The Supervisor, Revenue plays a vital role within the organization and is responsible for the primary revenue streams necessary to sustain the Town’s operations. Working within statutory requirements, as prescribed by various acts, this position oversees a dedicated team delivering efficient, effective and timely billing, receivable and collection activities for property taxation, utility, and miscellaneous revenue streams.

How you contribute to our organization:

  • Assists in the development of category rate setting for property taxation and utility services, including relevant adjustments such as phase-ins, capping, shifting, vacancy rebates, etc.
  • Reviews and updates the property taxation system with Municipal Property Assessment Corporation (MPAC) information, analyzes valuation for relativity and if needed seeks corrective resolution which could include collaboration with contact with MPAC and rate payers.
  • Oversees cash handling policies and processes, including bank deposits, unapplied payments, receipts, charge backs, reconciliations and assists departments with associated revenue and cash management processes and billing requests.
  • Responsible for the administration of County and Provincial education tax levy, collection and remittance.
  • Provides recommendations to the Manager of Finance on various revenue related matters and assists with operational reporting requirements i.e. tax by-law, tax arrears, property sales, assessment role adjustments, etc.

What you bring to the team:

  • Requires successful completion of a multi-year College Diploma in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline.
  • Requires successful completion of Municipal Tax Administration Program (MTAP) through Ontario Municipal Tax and Revenue Association.
  • Certified Municipal Revenue Professional (CMRP) designation through Ontario Municipal Tax and Revenue Association and designation from Institute of Municipal Assessors preferred.
  • Requires 4-5 years of related experience, including at least one year of supervisory experience.
  • Good written skills to assist with communications, reporting, and policy development.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Great Plains “Diamond” modules and Office applications.
  • Working knowledge of Provincial legislation and regulations, including but not limited to the Municipal Act, Assessment Act, Assessment Review Board Act, etc.
  • Familiarity with relevant public-sector accounting standards and practices.
  • Ability to interpret related legislation and policy changes and implement accordingly.
  • Strong organizational, prioritization and multi-task skills to achieve deadlines and objectives in a fast-paced environment.


Salary: $ 78,296.40 - $97,879.60, plus employer paid benefits and OMERS pension plan
Hours: Monday – Friday, 35 hours per week
Location: Administration Centre, 24 Tupper W, Alliston, ON
Start Date: August 6, 2024
