Duties:
· Cultivate and promote a culture of positivity amongst the production team and enthusiastic engagement with the brewing industry.
· Manage the production team of brewers, drivers, support and hourly packaging staff to produce beer, RTD and spirits to specification and ensure adequate inventory levels to support sales growth.
· Provide technical and development leadership to the production team.
· Manage production to meet and exceed sales forecasts. Work with sales leadership to analyze and understand trends in sku, product and brand sales to develop an accurate (<20% variance) sales forecast.
· Manage CSPC registrations, pricing controls, AGLC and CRA Excise compliance.
· Develop and oversee SOPs for brewing, cleaning, packaging and support work within the brewery. Work with the production team to continuously improve SOPs.
· Maintain Ekos records for inventory, work in progress, batch records and sales records at all times.
· Execute an innovation program within Trolley 5, in consultation with sales, marketing and Trolley 5 leadership.
· Manage the brewery supply chain; including supply agreements, hop contracts, pricing and build great supplier relationships.
· Establish and embed a quality assurance program within systems and procedures of the brewery. Track performance against industry benchmarks and drive continuous improvement of quality.
· Foster an inclusive environment and appreciation of our beer & brewing culture across departments.
· Manage recipe costs to target blended $/hL levels and labor % to hit and exceed profitability targets as set by Trolley 5 leadership.
· Establish and manage a program for preventative and ongoing maintenance.
· Responsible for hiring and termination decisions of the production team, in consultation with Trolley 5 leadership and other Directors.
· This position is roughly 70/30% management and team leadership vs hands on work.
· Any other duties as required by employer.
Qualifications and desired experience
· Age of majority with a valid SIN or work visa.
· Physically fit and able to work in a standing position for extended periods.
· Able to lift 25kg bags comfortably and move up to 65kg kegs safely.
· Minimum 5 years brewing experience.
· Minimum 1 year management experience as a head brewer or equivalent.
· Post-secondary brewing qualifications including Brewmaster Diploma, IBD General Certificate in Brewing, or equivalent combination of education and experience would be considered an asset.
· Certified First Aid Certificate an asset.
· Mechanical knowledge of light and heavy duty machinery an asset.
· Forklift certified, or able to drive a forklift and obtain certification with assistance from Trolley 5.
· Proficient using Microsoft Office suite including Word, Excel and brewery management software (Ekos, Beer30, Vicinity Brew etc.)
Compensation
· Base salary range of $70,000 – $90,000 per annum, less applicable statutory deductions.
· Potential 10% bonus at President discretion based on maintaining adequate inventories and product quality.
· Three (3) weeks paid vacation in addition to statutory vacation days.
· Health benefits under the Trolley 5 plan, following completion of 3-months probation.
· Shift beers and take-home stock.
