UDI Cable Services is a leading telecommunication contracting company based in Ottawa specializing in utility construction serving eastern Ontario.

As our company expands we are looking to fill a position for a Fibre & Coaxial Technician.
Job duties and qualifications required:
- A valid G driver's license
- Previous experience in telecommunications considered an asset
- Splice and test fibre optic cables in all outside plant applications - aerial, burial and underground, on both newly placed and existing cables.
- Analyze test results and the ability to troubleshoot and correct any faults or defects.
- Splice/bond cables in ground pedestals or aerial enclosures
- Ability to effectively use various pieces of equipment such as a fusion splicer, VOM/XDS/Light meters, butt set, laptop
- Interpret and understand placing and splicing work plans.
- Read and interpret work plans or job specifications to execute all work assigned safely and in accordance to our Health and Safety Policy.
- Clean and maintain tool and equipment.
- Work outdoors in various conditions to splice fibre optic telecommunication cables
- Accurately record and report project progress to the appropriate supervisory person and communicate any issues or delays.
- Climb poles and work at heights up to and exceeding 30 feet, along with the ability to lift heavy objects, tools and ladders (30-70lbs)
- Any and all other duties assigned in order to meeting Company objectives.
