Position Summary

The Chan Laboratory at Princess Margaret Cancer Centre is seeking a Research Technician IV to support leukemia and clonal hematopoiesis research projects in a cell and molecular biology lab. Additional information regarding the lab is available at: http://www.uhnresearch.ca/researchers/profile.php?lookup=63690 

Duties

  • Assist with molecular biology experiments – the duties includes molecular cloning, cell transfections, lentivirus production, cell transduction;
  • Assist with mouse experiments – the duties include intravenous and intrafemroal transplantation, blood and bone marrow analysis, and treatment protocols;
  • Conduct in vitro assays – the duty include flow cytometry, cell imaging, and cell proliferation assays.
  • The candidate will support multiple projects, work directly with other members of the lab, and report directly to the Principal Investigator.

Qualifications

  • At minimum a Master's degree in molecular biology or related Health Science discipline; PhD preferred
    At minimum, eight (8) years of related work experience with DNA cloning, mouse work, flow cytometry, tissue culture and laboratory techniques; 10 years experience with Bachelors Degree
  • Experience working in a related biomedical research field is preferred
  • Excellent competency in written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Collaborative mindset, able to follow instructions, and willing to work independently but also closely with other members of the team
  • Proficiency with MS Office software for record keeping is essential 
  • Strong analytical skills, excellent judgment, and the ability to work independently with guidance are essential.
