Position Details
The University of Lethbridge is seeking a full-time, continuing Security Representative – Team Lead.
Security Representatives provide 24/7 coverage on a negotiated rotating 12-hour shift pattern. Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to patrols and investigative work focused on enhancing the safety and security of persons, buildings, property and the environment, traffic control, and assisting the campus community where appropriate or as required.
Security Team Lead conduct all responsibilities related to the Security Representative role in addition to leading, educating, guiding and directing a team of Security Representatives in the areas of life safety, asset protection (including investigations), and environmental protection. Team Leads also collaborate with the Security Services Manager to develop and deliver training modules to maintain consistency in the service delivery model and compliance with applicable polices, procedures, and legislation.
Employees shall be eligible for applicable premiums as outlined in the AUPE Collective Agreement.
Position Qualifications
The successful candidate will be required to provide:
A satisfactory Criminal Record Check, including a Vulnerable Sector check.
A valid unrestricted Class 5 Driver’s License with no more than 6 demerits and submission of a motor vehicle record (driver abstract) dated within 3 months of the posting close is required.
A valid First Aid / CPR Certificate.
A valid Alberta Security Services and Investigators Act Individual or Investigators License in accordance with the Alberta Security Services and Investigators Act.
Have a minimum of 1-2 years experience in security related field.
Experience in leading a team.
The ideal candidate will:
Experience in a security related field, uniformed services industries, or equivalent training and/or experience.
Demonstrated understanding and knowledge of the Alberta Security Services and Investigators Act.
Able to physically conduct patrols for extended periods of time in varying conditions.
Able to interact with various individuals often in difficult situations while assisting and maintaining a professional demeanour.
Working knowledge in Office 365, alarm management, access control, and property management programs.
Knowledge of fire prevention methods and response procedures.
An understanding of Standard Operating Procedures.
