Brighten the day for a senior or physically disabled adult by helping to serve lunch in a senior’s residence building. Volunteers will be responsible for the set up and take down of the Dining Room; serving clients their meals; provide comradery to clients as well as be an advocate of VON Peel while with the clients. Training, education, and ongoing support is provided to all the volunteers. The volunteer and client develop a healthy, supportive relationship based on trust, open-mindedness, sharing and caring, warmth, and empathy.
Volunteers are needed in 4 different locations in the Mississauga area. The volunteering will be 3hrs a day, once a week, for a minimum of 6 months period. This volunteer opportunity will be best suited, for retired people or people who love to socialize and make new friends, while helping the community.
To promote program quality, all applicants for this volunteering 'role' are expected to participate in an interview, plus be subject to reference checks, a Police Vulnerable Sector Check, with comprehensive orientation and training provided to those applicants who are accepted for the program.
