The Role

WCLC is currently looking for a Project Manager to join our Portfolio Management Office (PMO) based in Winnipeg, Manitoba.

The PMO is responsible for creating business value by providing all areas of WCLC with project and portfolio management services to support the delivery of business objectives. Working closely with Business Sponsors, Executive Sponsors, and IT Leaders, you will be responsible for the development and execution of project plans to meet business expectations within predefined budget, schedule, and quality objectives. You will lead cross-functional teams and effectively manage stakeholder expectations to deliver corporate projects successfully.

We’re looking for someone who can…

  • Lead projects with enterprise-wide impacts, collaborating closely with diverse business units, technology leaders, cross-functional teams, project team members, and external stakeholders to ensure projects are well-defined, accurately planned, and successfully delivered.
  • Work collaboratively to develop the project charter, including defining the project scope, objectives, approach, measures of success, stakeholder engagement and communication plan.
  • Lead and facilitate agile ceremonies – daily stand-ups, sprint planning, sprint reviews, and retrospectives.
  • Drive project execution and delivery by managing sprint backlogs, prioritizing tasks, and removing impediments.
  • Develop comprehensive project plans showcasing financial and project management skills, encompassing cost estimates, budgeting, and resource allocation. Applies suitable estimation models, refines and monitors performance against them, and tailors project planning methods to fit the project's unique requirements.
  • Manage the tracking and control of projects and project plans, including issues, decisions, and change management.
  • Manage project budgets and costs and provides estimates and forecasts, including competent capitalization, amortization, and expense management analysis.
  • Perform risk planning and analysis (qualitative & quantitative), including risk identification and risk response planning at the project/program level and, where warranted, at the enterprise level.
  • Execute, track, and monitor progress to plan and communicate the appropriate project information to all relevant project team members and stakeholders.
  • Contribute to and adapts to organizational change, best practices, and improvements across teams, including the effective implementation and adherence to changes in processes and procedures.
  • Demonstrate a blend of business and technical acumen to ensure project deliverables and anticipated outcomes align with the established stated objectives.
  • Provide valuable insights and recommendations on project delivery methodologies and practices when working collaboratively with other project management team members.
  • Engage & collaborate with governance stakeholders to ensure compliance of products towards the corporate risk profile, cybersecurity controls, technology standards, and organizational governance processes.
  • Look for opportunities to improve team efficiency.


Qualifications

  • 7 years as an experienced Project Manager
  • Certified Associate Project Manager (CAPM), Project Management Professional (PMP), PRINCE2 or other industry-recognized Project Management accreditation is considered an asset.
  • Experience utilizing an extensive knowledge of project methodologies, processes, and practices to effectively deliver business and/or IT projects. ITIL knowledge is an asset.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience managing medium/large, complex projects for the entire project lifecycle for multiple initiatives.
  • Rapidly acquires new knowledge, learns new skills, and applies creative thinking to solve problems while understanding the organization’s vision, purpose and values.
  • Proven experience as an Agile Project Manager or Scrum Master, preferably in a software development environment.
  • Understanding and experience with Waterfall, Agile, Kanban, and Scrum.
  • Strong communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
  • Effective risk assessment, problem-solving, decision-making abilities, and management techniques.
  • Ability to work in a highly collaborative virtual team environment to facilitate and contribute to work across geographies and other functional teams.
  • Experience with Office 365 tools (PowerPoint, Excel, Teams, Forms) and project management tools, i.e., MS Project Server, Jira, Miro board, Confluence.
