The Wood Buffalo Primary Care Network (WBPCN) is seeking a permanent full-time (1.0 FTE) Accounting Administrator. This is an autonomous job position that requires an individual who takes initiative and is proactive in managing finances. This is not an entry level position, only those with the noted qualifications and experience should apply. The successful candidate must be organized and able to remain focused in a fast paced, evolving environment.

RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES:

  • Provide accounting support to the ED for the WB PCN.
  • Prepare bank deposits, journal entry postings and statements.
  • Reconcile bank accounts within 1 week of month end.
  • Daily entry of vendor invoices in Sage 50.
  • Reconcile grant funding reports on a monthly basis.
  • Provide timely assistance and support to the ED.
  • Provide support and document accounting processing and procedures.
  • Inform management and compile monthly, quarterly, annual, and ad hoc reports/summaries on activity areas.
  • Function in accordance with established standards, procedures, and applicable laws
  • Prepare monthly bank reconciliations for all operating and investment accounts.
  • Responsible for the accurate and timely processing of accounts payable, purchase orders, expense reports, and other disbursements as required and ensures these transactions are recorded in accordance with CGAAP for health care/not for profit organizations.
  • Coordinates and prepares accounts receivable and ensures accurate and timely management of billings, application of cash receipts, and other receivables as required.
  • Reconciles grant funding to expenses incurred and provides Program Reports on monthly basis.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Knowledge, Skill, and Competencies:

  • 5 years related financial, or accounting experience required, preferably in a health care or non-profit environment.
  • Can be working towards CPA designation or recently designated.
  • Expert knowledge of Sage 50.
  • Expert skills utilizing Microsoft Excel.
  • Experience generating complex financial reports.
  • Receive, act on, or re-direct confidential correspondence, inquiries, and issues.
  • Ability to effectively communicate in writing, in person, on the telephone, and electronically.

EDUCATION:

  • Accounting designation, or pursuit of, is a desirable requirement (e.g., CPA)
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field (e.g., Business, Accounting) is a desirable requirement, or equivalency in experience.
  • Advanced Excel knowledge and skills required.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:

  • Security: proof of a clean criminal record is required.
  • Completion of reference checks.
  • Must have own vehicle and valid driver’s license.
  • Preference will be given to candidates residing in Fort McMurray & the surrounding area.
