StreetReach is part of Tracia's Trust, the Manitoba government's strategy to prevent sexual exploitation of children and youth. The StreetReach program currently includes a Winnipeg team with representation from child welfare, law enforcement and non-governmental organizations who work collaboratively to respond to children and youth at high risk of being violently victimized through the sex trade. StreetReach team members believe that child/youth sexual abuse, regardless of the causes (sex trade, family history, third party pressure), is a complex community issue. It is recognized that many of the youth involved with StreetReach struggle with both mental health and addictions issues, and the inclusion of clinicians with such expertise on the StreetReach team is invaluable.
The Community Mental Health Worker will be an employee of WRHA embedded in the Community Emergency Department Violence Intervention Program (CEDVIP) and will work in an outreach capacity as a clinician with the StreetReach Service of the Province of Manitoba Department of Families.
MAIN FUNCTION:
The Community Mental Health Worker is responsible for assessment, case planning, intervention and coordination of mental health services and supports provided to identified youth. The position will report to the Lead, CCSI and receive clinical supervision from a Clinical Team Coordinator. The Community Mental Health Worker provides recovery-oriented intervention services to youth with complex and enduring mental illness, including co-occurring substance use concerns. The incumbent will support and deliver a range of services including: specialized mental health treatment; crisis response service; planning for general health, housing, income support, protection and advocacy; individual outreach services; and general engagement and support to family and natural supports.
This term position may end earlier as outlined in your collective agreement.
This position requires a current satisfactory Criminal Records Check (including Vulnerable Sector Search), Child Abuse Registry Check and Adult Abuse Registry Check as conditions of employment. The successful candidate will be responsible for any service charges incurred. A security check is considered current if it was obtained no more than six (6) months prior to the start of employment.
Please note that an employee is not permitted to hold two or more positions across the WRHA legal entity that combine to equal more than 1.0 EFT. The WRHA legal entity includes Churchill Health Centre, Deer Lodge Centre, Grace Hospital, Middlechurch Home of Winnipeg, Pan Am Clinic, River Park Gardens, Victoria General Hospital, WRHA corporate programs, and WRHA community health services. Effective April 1, 2024, Golden West Centennial Lodge will also be part of the WRHA legal entity.
