Job Title: Manager of Child Care Operations

Reports to: Senior Manager of Child Care Operations

Branch: Child Care - Northern BC


Salary:
$73,500.00 - $81,500.00 Annually, which includes the Government Wage Enhancement (currently $6.00/hour for fully certified Early Childhood Educators)

Terms: Full-Time, Permanent

Hours: 40 hours per week (Monday to Friday) with flexibility of change to meet the needs of the programs. Occasional evenings and weekends for training or YMCA events.

About the Role:

This position directly coordinates all programs and employees within Chetwynd and Dawson Creek. This requires daily check-in’s to ensure programs are operating at best functional level. Ensuring curriculum implementation, policies, and Licensing Requirements are being met. This position also requires direct supervision of the Child Care Coordinator and front-line staff in Dawson Creek, regular communication and weekly online check-ins are required to ensure the coordinator has all the required support and resources to successfully complete their job duties.


Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities

Supervise employees including onboarding, training, and mentoring, performance reviews and HR when needed. Communicate with families, complete necessary food and supply shopping, complete monthly attendance, prepare and maintain children’s and employee files, make at minimum monthly visits to Dawson Creek's programs (one Early Years location and one School age space) weather permitting. Overall responsible for the Operational Management of 5 physical locations and 125 licensed spaces, ensuring program financial viability by meeting registration targets retaining participants and planning for growth.


Qualifications of this role:

  • Diploma in Early Childhood Educator or equivalent. Minimum three years direct child care experience, including successfully supporting children with diverse needs.
  • Minimum two years’ experience in a leadership position


Skills and Abilities:

  • Strong leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage and develop a team in a dynamic and fast-paced environment across a large geography.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships with parents, staff, and community stakeholders.
  • Financial acumen and the ability to manage budgets effectively.
  • Knowledge of early childhood education best practices and curriculum development.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and child care management software.
  • Training and experience facilitation using principles of adult learning.
    • Experience in opening new programs is considered an asset.
  • Valid Child Care First Aid recognized in the child care licensing regulations.
