The Environmental Compliance & Inspections unit oversees the enforcement of the Waters Act and the Environment Act through the monitoring and enforcement of licensed or permitted facilities and responding to reports of possible violations of the statutes. Our section is seeking an individual to undertake inspections for permits issued under the Environment Act and licenses issued under the Waters Act, and to act as lead agent for spill response. Working in a small inspections unit, you’ll be called upon to work with a variety of stakeholders, industry groups, other government departments/agencies and the public. The ability to navigate conflictual situations with the public and clients will be an asset in this position.

Conditions of Employment:
Valid Class 5 Yukon driver's license (or equivalent), and Standard First Aid or ability to acquire within 6 months.
Job Requirements:
Wearing and maintaining a uniform. The incumbent is required to travel frequently, including to regional communities or remote locations, to conduct scheduled and unscheduled inspections, attend emergency spills without notice and travel to remote locations to conduct compliance monitoring and inspections. Work hours can be unpredictable and irregular when responding to spills or other environmental emergencies.
