We are expanding our footprint and are looking for a dynamic General Manager to take the lead in establishing and growing one of our new locations. This is an exciting opportunity for a proven leader to build a successful branch from the ground up, overseeing all aspects of the local business, including launch day hiring and operational strategy, fleet and warehouse management, financial oversight, customer service, and sales/business development. The ideal candidate will be entrepreneurial, communicative, and passionate about setting the foundation and driving profitable growth in a new market.

  1. Sales Leadership:
    • Develop and implement effective sales strategies and plans to drive revenue growth, expand customer base, and increase market share. Success in this position will hinge on your ability to maximize sales and quickly cover fixed expenses.
    • Lead and motivate the sales team, setting ambitious goals, and providing guidance to achieve targets.
    • Foster strong relationships with key clients, identify new business opportunities, and negotiate contracts and pricing.
  2. Operational Excellence and Compliance:
    • Oversee day-to-day operations, ensuring smooth and efficient execution of moving and storage services. Help shape and set the tone for the day one operational approach in your market.
    • Lead a culture and instill best practices that deliver a best-in-class moving experience – be the driving force behind service quality and efficiency that ultimately generates customer satisfaction.
    • Monitor and optimize resource allocation, including fleet, staffing, and transportation, to maximize efficiency and profitability.
    • Stay up-to-date and run an operation that is compliant with state/regional regulatory requirements (eg household goods licensure, labor laws, etc.)
  3. Team Development:
    • Recruit, hire, and develop a high-performing team of sales professionals, drivers, and local operators/helpers.
    • Provide coaching, mentorship, and ongoing performance feedback to enhance individual and team capabilities.
    • Foster a positive and collaborative work environment, promoting teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  4. Financial Management:
    • Analyze operating margins (eg labor/fuel), competitive pricing, and macroeconomic market trends to drive profitable growth and mitigate expense leakage.
    • Own and optimize your local P&L, managing financial performance and taking proactive measures to meet or exceed targets.
    • Collaborate with senior leadership on investment/CAPEX opportunities to meet goals.
    • Ensure effective cost control measures are in place while maintaining service quality standards.
  5. Collaboration:
    • Regularly align and strategize with corporate support functions including marketing, IT, call center, legal, HR, fleet, and safety.
    • Partner cross-functionally with other GMs and market leaders to share best practices, risks, and opportunities; help drive the overall divisional performance and lean into our existing collaborative culture.
    • Coordinate with our sister brand, 1-800-PackRat, on facility operations, warehouse management, and delivery support as required.

•Knowledge of industry regulations, compliance, and safety standards.

•Strong Entrepreneurial mindset

Required education and experience

•Degree in Business Administration, Sales, Operations Management, or a related field

•5 years of experience in operations or sales management, preferably in transportation, storage/relocation, or related industry.

•3 years of leadership experience, with a track record of leading a high-performing team and culture

Supervisory responsibilities

This position will directly manage local operations including but not limited to sales support (business development manager), drivers, and laborers. There is an opportunity to hire additional operations management support after proven revenue growth.

Salary : $75,000 - $120,000
