Job Summary:
Horizon BCBS seeks a self-directed Communications/Marketing Intern for the Proposal Development Team with a passion for collaboration, writing, editing, desktop publishing and creative problem-solving. The intern will actively contribute to meaningful projects, work closely with Horizon staff and develop content/sales collaterals. Intern will also work closely with assigned manager and mentor as well as gain exposure to Horizon leadership.Responsibilities:
- Assist in researching and writing content to be used in Horizon proposals.
- Edit and proofread sales proposals, sales presentations and marketing collateral.
- Assist in creating sales presentation slides and graphics.
- Assist with generating sales reports and analysis.
- Supports Sales in its efforts to sell new business as well as service, convert and add additional lines of business to existing accounts.
- Participate in various internal and external project workgroups.
- Assists in the procurement and validation of information from subject matter experts throughout Horizon.
- Assists in processing paperwork relating to the prospecting and enrollment of new accounts.
- Perform other relevant tasks as assigned by management that will support the Horizon’s Proposal Development and Sales Teams.
Requirements:
- Requires High School Diploma
- Pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree in Communications, English, Marketing/ Business or related field
- Requires excellent written and oral communication skills, in particular the ability to communicate in a clear and concise manner.
- Requires strong PC skills including ability to manipulate spreadsheets and word documents as well as proficiency with PowerPoint and Adobe.
- Detailed oriented with strong critical thinking skills.
- Excellent organizational and project management skills.
- Self-motivated, self-starter with the ability to work in both a team environment as well as independently.
- Able to work in a fast-paced environment and multi-task.
Knowledge:
- Strong communication and writing skills preferred
- Knowledge of health care industry preferred
- Business Acumen
- Strong Computer Skills, Microsoft Office products to include (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, Adobe, etc.).

Location: 3 Penn Plaza Newark NJ – Hybrid Work Schedule
Schedule: 8 am-5 pm (9-hour work day with lunch)
Duration: 11 week Summer Internship Program (June 2, 2025 – August 15, 2025)
