The Agora Companies, an international consortium of publishing companies, is seeking a Tax Director to oversee its current tax team. This leadership role is ideal for a seasoned tax professional ready to bring their expertise to a dynamic, fast-paced environment while fostering innovation and excellence within the tax department.
As a key member of the leadership team, the Tax Director will take a strategic role in managing compliance, planning, and risk analysis across all tax functions, including state and local tax (SALT), sales and use tax, and global indirect tax.

Key Responsibilities :
- Leadership & Oversight : Lead and mentor the tax team, ensuring timely and accurate preparation, review, and filing of all tax returns, with a focus on SALT, sales and use tax, and other indirect tax requirements.
- Strategic Planning : Develop and implement comprehensive tax compliance strategies, identifying opportunities for tax savings and managing risks effectively.
- Tax Research & Policy Development : Stay current with tax regulations and emerging trends, providing strategic guidance and ensuring compliance across all entities.
- Audit Management : Take a lead role in managing tax audits and resolving related issues, acting as the primary liaison with tax authorities.
- Subject Matter Expertise : Serve as the organization’s key tax advisor, offering insights on SALT, GST, VAT, and other global indirect taxes.
- Collaboration : Partner with leadership across The Agora companies to align tax strategies with overall business goals.
- Software Utilization : Oversee the use of tax software, including OneSource Indirect Tax Solutions, and identify opportunities for process improvements and efficiencies.
Requirements :
7 years of tax management experience, with expertise in SALT and pass-through entities.
Deep understanding of accounting principles and tax regulations.
Proficiency in OneSource Indirect Tax Solutions software preferred.
Compensation - $150,000 - $180,000
