Position Summary:
This position is responsible for all areas relating to financial reporting. This position will develop and maintain accounting principles, practices, and procedures to ensure accurate and timely financial statements. The Controller supervises the accounting staff and manages the team to ensure that work is properly allocated and completed promptly. This position addresses tight deadlines and many accounting activities, including general ledger preparation, financial reporting, year-end audit preparation, and the support of budget and forecast activities.
Duties / Responsibilities:
- Prepare and enter journal entries and maintain general ledger accounts
- Support the financial planning and analysis efforts
- Assist with monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting
- Assist CFO with month end close consolidation
- Assist in the budgeting and forecasting process
- Work with Clayton accounting to assist as needed
- Maintain Trade Partner/Vendor compliance
- Direct the day-to-day actions of the entire accounting department including but not limited to overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of their Team Members.
- Responsible for ensuring Team Members are following the organization's policies and applicable laws to include: interviewing, hiring, training, planning, assigning and directing work flow, coaching, addressing complaints and resolving problems.
- Ensure an accurate month-end and year-end close.
- Advise staff regarding the handling of non-routine reporting transactions.
- Oversee all accounts payable, and general accounting functions.
- Respond to the CFO and other Executives regarding financial results and special reporting requests.
- All other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting
- Five years’ experience in progressive accounting roles
- Two years’ in a leadership role, preferably in accounting
- Certified Public Accountant with public accounting experience in auditing
- Advanced knowledge of GAAP.
- Strong time management skills.
- Attention to detail, organization, and accuracy.
- Ability to work with multiple deadlines in a fast-paced setting.
- Ability to communicate effectively with both internal and external stakeholders.
- Ability to multitask.
Physical Demands:
- Must be able to consistently operate a computer and other office productivity machinery such as telephone, calculator, copy machine, computer printer, etc.
- Must be able to communicate with others via phone, email, and in person. Must be able to exchange accurate information with others.
- Constantly works in an indoor, temperature-controlled, sealed-window office environment.
- Work primarily involves sitting / standing.
Travel Requirements:
- Occasional travel to other divisional locations.
