Every day, we rise to the challenge to make a difference and here’s how the Janitor role will make an impact: Key responsibilities for this role include: Know and comply with all applicable Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Work Instructions (WI). Review and recommend SOP(s) and Work Instructions as required. Maintain a safe, clean and organized work environment to established 6S Standards. Practice safe lifting and carrying in accordance to EH&S guidelines. Keep all equipment (machines, tools, work stations, and storage units) organized and in good condition. Remove waste from plant as required and deposit in trash bins. Sweep, mop and vacuum floors and empty waste baskets daily. Clean lunchrooms & restrooms daily. Perform floor maintenance, as required. Perform miscellaneous minor plant maintenance. Assist with the maintenance of grounds around the building to keep in a neat and orderly manner. Monitor cleaning supplies and re-order as needed. Assist with janitorial duties at both facilities as needed. Be an active member in site improvement projects, helping to streamline the process, maximize efficiencies, eliminate waste and help implement improvements to achieve company goals. (i.e. Kaizen events, 6S audits, etc.). Support Continuous improvement efforts to achieve company goals. Perform other duties as assigned by the EHS/Facilities Manager. The minimum qualifications for this role are: Must possess knowledge of janitorial duties. Must possess janitorial skills. Must possess skills to strip, buff and wax floors. Ability to perform minor electrical, plumbing and carpentry projects, preferred. Position functions semi-autonomously, and directly reports to the Facilities Supervisor. Minimum of a High school diploma (or equivalent) and 0-2 years of janitorial experience, preferred. However, a combination of experience and/or education will be taken into consideration. Ability to read and interpret general business documents. Ability to write routine reports and general business correspondence. Ability to work with peers and communicate basic concepts. Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide. Ability to solve practical problems through standardized solutions that require limited judgment. Ability to follow prescribed and detailed procedures to solve routine problems Moderate physical demand. Continuous/frequent lifting/moving average weight (25 to 50 lbs/11-27 kgs) and occasionally lifting heavy weight materials or strenuous activity. Must be able to stand, walk, stoop, bend, kneel, and climb steps. May require use of hands and use of arms to lift and scoop. May require dexterity, reaching and turning of upper body May be required to lift or maneuver boxes or containers using lifting equipment as well as physically pushing, rolling or lifting. May be required to wear personal protective equipment including but not limited to: respiratory protection, safety glasses, hearing protection, safety shoes and protective clothing. Must be able to stand extended periods of time. Must be able to lift at least 50 pounds. Computer entry/typing. Physical Demand Strength Rating: Medium Work.
