The Essex Free Library is receiving applications for temporary employment for an Assistant Librarian of Interlibrary Loans and Patron Services.
This role is Temporary and is anticipated to last for approximately 8 weeks. During the duration of this role, the chosen candidate will work 27.5 hours per week on average, including one evening per week and alternating Saturdays. There may be an opportunity for the chosen candidate to join the library’s substitute pool at the end of this assignment.
Under the direct supervision of the Library Director, this position manages all aspects of the Interlibrary Loan process, which includes lending books and other items to libraries around the state, and obtaining items from other libraries in and out of state for Essex Free patrons. This position also participates actively in assuring patron satisfaction at both the adult and children’s circulation desks.
The qualified candidate will have interest, experience, and familiarity with literature, excellent patron service skills, and proficient technology skills. Some college experience and some prior library experience is desired. The salary for this role is $17-$19 per hour depending on qualifications and experience of the candidate.
