In working towards helping A Precious Child meet its overall objective of providing services for children in need throughout Colorado, the Donation Center Assistant Manager serves as a key member of the A Precious Child team. Responsible for the proper intake and processing of all in-kind donations, the management of volunteers and overall management of the Donation Center. They also manage the Donation Center Associate who leads the support at our Donation Dock to manage the process of incoming donations.
Hours: Full-time position 8:30am-5:00pm Monday-Friday, non-exempt, with some evenings and weekends

Duties and Responsibilities
Supervision and Leadership:
- Provide direct supervision and leadership to Donation Center Associate
- Conduct regular performance evaluations, provide feedback and set clear goals and expectations for direct reports
- Offer training, guidance and mentorship to direct reports, fostering their growth and success in their roles
- Handle conflicts or issues within the team promptly and effectively, ensuring a positive and productive work environment.
- Align the work of direct reports with the organization's strategic goals and mission, ensuring that team efforts contribute to overall objectives
- Maintain open and transparent communication channels with direct reports, ensuring that they are informed about organizational changes, updates and expectations
- Actively listen to the concerns, ideas, and feedback of direct reports, valuing their input and promoting a culture of inclusivity
- Demonstrate professionalism, integrity and a strong work ethic, serving as a role model for direct reports and promoting a culture of continuous improvement
- Uphold ethical leadership standards in all aspects of leadership, ensuring that decisions and actions align with the organization's values and principles
- Address any performance issues or gaps in skills or knowledge among direct reports, providing support and guidance for improvement
Donation Center & Volunteer Relations:
- Responsible for overseeing Donation Center 1 & Donation Center 2
- Responsible for ensuring supervision, engagement and training of Donation Center volunteers
- Responsible for proper management and daily planning of volunteers of all ages and group sizes to ensure donations are sorted, sized and displayed in an orderly and timely manner
- Implements processes and procedures for Donation Center volunteer management, training and efficiency, as well as the intake of donations and donor relations at the Receiving & Dock area
- Ensures donors are greeted in a timely manner and assisted with unloading their donations, are properly thanked, receive tax receipts and organizational literature as well as offered tours and other ways they can contribute
- Ensures daily and periodic checklist for maintenance of the Donation Center (i.e. sweeping, wiping tabletops, returning supplies to appropriate holding place, etc.).
- Responsible for assisting with fundraising goals through in-kind donor and volunteer focused strategies and campaigns
- Responsible for working closely with Empowerment Resource Center Department to ensure inventory on the Store stays stocked and prioritize processing of items for the Store that are low
- Ensure inventory in & out is correctly recorded
Safety Compliance:
- Responsible for following OSHA safety requirements and that any safety requirements for the Donation Center are documented and reported to Director of Donation Center, Warehouse and Facilities
- Responsible for ensuring a safe work environment for all staff, volunteers, and donors
Donation Center Team Support:
- Collaborate with the other Donation Center Assistant Manager, offering coverage and support needed
- Act as a backup to cover the Donation Dock if the Donation Center Associate is absent
- Responsible for snow removal, including utilizing the snow plow and Can-Am. This can include on days A Precious Child has closures or late starts.
- Snow and Ice Removal PP will be reviewed and signed off by Manager
- Responsible for working some evening and weekend after hour volunteer and fundraising events
- Assist with prep work and count of physical inventory
- Maintains an organized and professional work area
- Work with and oversee interns, as needed
Other duties as assigned:
- Providing daily support to operations team when needs arise
Experience and Qualifications:
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's Degree (Preferred): A degree in a related field, as specified in the qualifications. Consideration will also be given to candidates with significant related field experience, showcasing practical knowledge and expertise
- Volunteer management, nonprofit operations or a related field: Minimum of two years
- Direct report supervision experience: Minimum of one year
Donation Center & Volunteer Management:
Donation Center:
- Demonstrated experience in donation center or warehouse operations, including inventory management and logistics
- Strong leadership and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and tasks simultaneously
Volunteer Management:
- Ability to assess volunteer skills and match them with appropriate tasks and responsibilities
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with volunteers, donors, staff, and community partners
- Knowledge of best practices in volunteer training, including safety protocols, cultural competency, and customer service
- Ability to communicate clearly and regularly with volunteers, providing necessary updates and instructions
Process Improvements: Experience in implementing process improvements to increase efficiency and familiarity with lean principles and continuous improvement methodologies
Safety Compliance: Knowledge of warehouse safety regulations and procedures
OSHA trained preferred but not required
Required to operate heavy equipment
Lift up to 50lbs at a time

- Issue Resolution: Strong problem-solving skills to handle and resolve issues and questions from both staff, interns or volunteers

Technical Proficiency:
- Microsoft Office Suite: Highly proficient in using Microsoft Office tools

- Supervisory Skills: Experience in training and supervising warehouse staff. Additionally includes interns and volunteers, ensuring an engaging and impactful experience

- Time Management: Works well with timelines and deadlines
- Multitasking and prioritization: Ability to manage competing demands and handle multiple duties simultaneously
