Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Risk Manager to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for identifying, assessing, and mitigating risks that could impact the organization’s financial health and operational efficiency. This role requires a strong understanding of financial concepts, quantitative analysis, and the ability to utilize various financial software tools to support risk management strategies. The Risk Manager plays a critical role in ensuring that the organization complies with the Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Services (DBHDS) standards and regulations, including those outlined in the Risk Management Attestation. The Risk Manager is responsible for overseeing risk management processes, promoting a culture of safety and compliance, and ensuring the highest standards of care and service delivery are maintained.
Responsibilities
- Compliance with DBHDS Standards:
- Complete the DBHDS-approved Risk Manager Attestation training and maintain compliance with all relevant regulations.
- Develop, implement, and monitor risk management policies and procedures in alignment with DBHDS guidelines.
- Conduct regular audits to ensure compliance with 12VAC35-105 and 12VAC35-115 regulations.
- Risk Identification and Mitigation:
- Identify, analyze, and mitigate risks related to service delivery, client safety, and operational processes.
- Develop and maintain a risk management plan to address identified risks effectively.
- Ensure timely reporting of critical incidents and oversee follow-up investigations.
- Staff Training and Development:
- Provide training to staff on risk management policies, critical incident reporting, and DBHDS regulations.
- Ensure all employees understand their responsibilities related to risk mitigation and compliance.
- Ongoing training sessions will be conducted quarterly to reinforce compliance practices. Training covers proper documentation practices, storage of sensitive information, and timely submission of required documents.
- Provide comprehensive training to Human Resources staff and hiring managers on the updated protocols and the importance of compliance with 12VAC35-105-400.D.
- Incident Management:
- Oversee the reporting, documentation, and investigation of critical incidents.
- Collaborate with clinical and administrative staff to address and resolve incidents effectively.
- Maintain accurate records of incidents and track trends to prevent recurrence.
- Safety and Quality Assurance:
- Promote a culture of safety and continuous improvement within the organization.
- Monitor the physical environment for safety concerns and ensure corrective actions are taken.
- Collaborate with the Quality Assurance team to ensure alignment between risk management and quality improvement initiatives.
- Collaboration and Communication:
- Work closely with leadership, clinical teams, and administrative staff to integrate risk management into all aspects of service delivery.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for DBHDS regarding risk management and compliance matters.
Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Healthcare Administration, Risk Management, Social Work, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
