Above Lending has an exciting opportunity available for a strategic-minded, analytically driven individual looking to work in a fast-growing company with a dynamic environment. In partnership with our business development, finance, operations, and technology departments, we are seeking an Analyst of Capital Markets to help support strategic initiatives regarding the company’s funding needs, capital management and reporting. This role will also support our FP&A team and provide modeling support for financial and operational forecasts, strategic planning, business analysis and annual budgeting.  This individual will also play a hands-on role in developing and implementing financial modeling processes and tools.


Primary responsibilities will include excel modeling of company performance, managing the company’s funding activities (including new loan originations & purchases), developing efficiencies in operations, leading the reporting processes to Above Lending’s partners, and ensuring financial discipline and compliance. The ideal candidate will have solid business acumen capable of driving results and improving processes. Strong oral and written communication skills are crucial, as well as ability to think clearly, analyze quantitatively, problem-solve, scope technical requirements and prioritize. There is significant opportunity to get exposure to the C-Level team in the company and interact directly with the investors.


This is a hybrid role, with expectation to be on-site three days per week in our downtown Chicago office.

You Will
  • Capital Markets – Analyze asset performance relative to expectations and deliver agreed upon materials to Above Lending’s various financing sources (over $500mm in current financing)
  • Financial Reporting – Develop management reporting for Above’s executive team regarding the company’s investing activities
  • Investment Decision Support – Partner with key stakeholders to support product and channel profitability analysis with the goal to optimize returns
  • Financial Systems – Identify opportunities for automation/innovation and assist in solutions implementation
  • Pricing – Validate/review pricing and debt structuring proposals for new/existing products
  • Ad Hoc Analyses – Act as point of contact on various programs/projects
  • Financial Modeling – Own, build and improve the framework of the operating, forecast, and scenario based financial models. Build financial models in Excel based on historical financial and operating data and ensure accuracy while enhancing model quality. Perform monthly variance analysis against financial models
  • Vendor Selection – Assist with identification and design of a FP&A reporting tool for the budget, forecast, and other financial models
  • Strategic Insight – Provide financial and strategic support to senior management and the owners, including preparing investor presentations, financial presentations, and other projects.


You Have:
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university and 1-4 years of relevant professional experience
  • Preferred experience in the Financial Services industry with a “balance sheet” (i.e. lending) business
  • Strong strategic, analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Experience in FP&A building and maintaining complex financial models
  • Understanding of, and ability to build, projection curves
  • Proficiency in MS Excel and other analytical software
  • Ability to work in a team setting and collaborate across cross-functional teams, while also being able to work independently
  • An attention to detail, a willingness to roll up your sleeves, and deliver results
  • Ability to manage complexity and ambiguity
  • Ability to master both strategic and operational issues and understand the business fundamentals and tie it to financial insights
  • Ability to handle multiple competing priorities
