Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Site Safety and Health Officer (SSHO), to join our team on a minor construction project in Cannon Airforce Base, NM. The Site Safety and Health Officer will play a crucial role in providing safety oversite at the construction work site at all times to implement and administer the Safety Program and government accepted Accident Prevention Plan. The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of safety in construction, construction methods, excellent project management skills, and the ability to work effectively with contractors, subcontractors and other stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct daily safety and health inspections and maintain a written log which includes area/operation inspected, date of inspection, identified hazards, recommended corrective actions, estimated and actual dates of corrections. Attach safety inspection logs to the Contractors' daily production report.
- Conduct mishap investigations and complete required accident reports. Report mishaps and near misses.
- Use OSHA's Form 300 to log work-related injuries and illnesses occurring on the project site for Prime Contractors and subcontractors. Post and maintain the Form 300 on the site Safety Bulletin Board.
- Maintain applicable safety reference material on the job site.
- Attend the pre-construction conference, pre-work meetings including preparatory meetings, and periodic in-progress meetings.
- Review the APP and AHAs for compliance with EM 385-1-1, and approve, sign, implement and enforce them.
- Establish a Safety and Occupational Health (SOH) Deficiency Tracking System that lists and monitors outstanding deficiencies until resolution.
- Ensure subcontractor compliance with safety and health requirements.
- Collect and maintain the certified EMR ratings for all subcontractors on the project and make them available to the Government at the Government's request.
- Maintain a list of hazardous chemicals on site and their material Safety Data Sheets (SDS).
- Maintain a weekly list of high hazard activities involving energy, equipment, excavation, entry into confined space, and elevation, and be prepared to discuss details during QC Meetings.
- Provide and keep a record of site safety orientation and indoctrination for Contractor employees, subcontractor employees, and site visitors.

Qualifications
- Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations and compliance
- Experience in construction management and site safety practices
- Proficiency in EHS (Environmental, Health, and Safety) protocols
- Skills in risk management and occupational health
- Familiarity with construction management software
- Understanding of workers' compensation and NEC standards
- Ability to manage and enforce safety regulations on federal construction sites

Pay: $65,000.00 - $85,000.00 per year
