Seeking a motivated Direct Support Professional to work with a young man from 2pm-5pm Monday-Friday. In this critical role, you will provide support to the person while completing tasks and activities such as assist with personal care routine, organization of paperwork, advocacy and attending community activities. The ideal candidate will have effective communication, compassionate and must be reliable. Experience is preferred, but not necessary for the right candidate! Must be comfortable with reminding and supporting individual with his personal care routine.
Reliable transportation and a driver's license are required. Background check, fingerprinting, and DMV record check will be conducted prior to hire by non-profit agency.
Responsibilities:
- Provide direct care and support to individuals with autism and other developmental disabilities
- Assist with daily living activities, including meal preparation, personal hygiene, and medication administration
- Monitor and record vital signs, such as blood pressure and temperature
- Ensure the safety and well-being of individuals in your care
- Promote independence and encourage participation in social and recreational activities
- Advocate for resident rights and ensure their needs are met
- Maintain accurate documentation of care provided and any changes in condition
Skills:
- Experience working with individuals with autism or developmental disabilities is preferred
- Proficient in meal preparation and following dietary guidelines
- Knowledge of vital sign monitoring and basic medical care procedures
- Strong caregiving skills, including empathy, patience, and compassion
- Ability to perform heavy lifting and assist with mobility as needed
- Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with individuals, families, and healthcare professionals
- Understanding of resident rights and ability to advocate for their needs
- Familiarity with electronic documentation systems for recording patient care
