Job Description for DAY PROGRAM STAFF
The Day Program Staff member reports directly to the Program Supervisor and/or Administrator and is responsible for the daily engagement and care of adults with developmental disabilities. Duties include but are not limited to, feeding, dressing, assistance with personal hygiene including assistance with toileting and changing of soiled undergarments, activity planning, leading assigned groups in scheduled activities and providing transportation to scheduled activity/outings. Other duties may include preparing meals, basic instruction/training as outlined in the individual service plan and program curriculum, participation in the development of the individual program plan, and performing other activities or tasks that are related to assisting the individuals at the Adult Day Program.
Responsibilities of Day Program Staff:
- Monitor services and clients progress in relationship to established goals and objectives, and document findings on the appropriate forms on a daily or as needed basis.
- Maintain progress notes and data for each individual assigned.
- Will report incidents immediately to the program supervisor or administrator according to policies.
- Will assist individuals in all areas of grooming and personal hygiene skills (including assistance with toileting and changing of soiled undergarments) based on the needs of the individuals served.
- Will supervise and assist individuals during meals and snacks to ensure safety
- Will communicate on a regular basis with Program Administrator, Supervisor, families and other services providers and agencies, as needed;
- Will immediately report observations or evidence of violations of individual rights or abuse.
- Will attend team meetings or other training as part of continuation of education or any agency–wide training/in-services programs; Must complete a minimum of eight (8) hours of annual training every calendar year.
- Will support consumers through community integration programming and engagement.
- Will maintain a clean, safe and healthy environment at all times.
- Will ensure that all programming is safe, secure and dedicated to improving the quality of life for the individuals participating, and will report any situation or behavior that is not, to the Program Supervisor or Administrator.
- Will assist clients with the administration of medication and record per training
- Will mentor and train new staff members as needed.
- Will greet visitors and determine whether they should be given access to specific individuals based on company policies and procedures.
- Will complete documentation of services and time keeping via electronic means, submitting for approval daily.
- Will maintain a high level of honesty, confidentiality and work ethic at all times; and always communicate, be consistent and act professionally at all times.
- Will perform transportation services for Day Program participants, one hour before Day Program start time and one hour after Day Program end time.
- Will perform other related duties and assignments as required and assigned by the Program Supervisor or Administrator.
Qualifications of Day Program Staff:
- Must be at least 21 years of age
- Minimum of 12 months (one year) direct support experience in programs supporting adults with developmental disabilities
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Experience utilizing tablet, computer, or smart phone for use in daily documentation (skills assessment given)
- Clean criminal record background check
- Clean driving record with insurance
- Ability to pass Medication Administration Training/Exams as required
- Completion of First Aid/CPR training
- Ability to lift up to 50lbs, bend, twist, squat, climb stairs, and be in general good health to ensure the health and safety of those we serve
Compensation & Working Schedule for Day Program Staff:
Employment Classification: Hourly Non- Exempt
Employment Status: Full Time
Mondays to Fridays: 7:30AM-3:30pm or 8am – 4pm (per company need)
