Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Physical Therapist Assistant to join our team. In this role, you will work under the supervision of a licensed Physical Therapist to provide high-quality care to our students at the Cornerstone School located in Cranston, RI. Your primary focus will be on assisting patients in their rehabilitation journey, promoting mobility, and enhancing their overall quality of life.
Duties
- Assist in implementing individualized treatment plans as directed by the Physical Therapist.
- Provide therapeutic exercises and modalities to students with various conditions, including orthopedics, geriatrics, and pediatrics.
- Monitor students progress and report any changes or concerns to the supervising Physical Therapist.
- Educate students and their families on treatment protocols and home exercise programs.
- Participate in discharge planning to ensure a smooth transition for students leaving the facility.
- Maintain accurate documentation of student care and progress using medical terminology.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to optimize student outcomes.
- Utilize techniques such as trigger point therapy as part of treatment when appropriate.
Requirements
- Completion of an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program.
- Current state licensure or eligibility for licensure as a Physical Therapist Assistant.
- Experience in skilled nursing facilities or clinics is preferred but not required.
- Knowledge of physical therapy practices related to orthopedics, pediatrics, geriatrics, and inpatient care.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to educate patients effectively.
- Familiarity with discharge planning processes is a plus.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a healthcare team while demonstrating empathy and patience towards patients.
