What are the responsibilities and job description for the Power BI Developer/Contractor position at Acra Lending?
We are seeking an experienced Power BI Developer to analyze approximately five existing Excel reports containing visualizations and translate them into equivalent Power BI reports. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in reverse engineering Excel-based reports and developing Power BI dashboards and reports that accurately represent the original insights. This role requires a strong understanding of SQL Server databases, data modeling, and business intelligence best practices within the mortgage loan and/or finance domains. This is a 3 to 6-month on-site contract with the possibility of evolving into a permanent full-time position.
Pay: $70.00- $90.00 an hour, 3 days a week in our Irvine corporate office. Our pay is based upon experience, education, location and qualifications
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Analyze and understand the structure, data sources, calculations, and visualizations of existing Excel reports.
Reverse engineer Excel reports and develop equivalent Power BI reports with dynamic, interactive, and visually compelling dashboards.
Connect and integrate Power BI with SQL Server databases, ensuring data accuracy and optimal performance.
Implement Power Query and DAX calculations to match and enhance Excel-based calculations.
Optimize Power BI reports for performance, usability, and scalability.
Validate and compare Power BI reports against the original Excel reports to ensure consistency and accuracy.
Provide documentation on the data models, calculations, and transformations applied in Power BI.
Collaborate with stakeholders to understand reporting needs and make enhancements, as necessary.
Qualifications, Education and Experience

Proven experience in migrating and translating Excel-based reports into Power BI dashboards.
Strong understanding of SQL Server databases, including writing queries, stored procedures, and performance tuning.
Expertise in Power Query, DAX, and data transformation techniques.
Ability to work independently, analyze existing reports, and provide well-structured solutions.
Proficiency in SQL and T-SQL for querying, data analysis, and troubleshooting.
Education and/or Experience
5 years of experience in Power BI development, including report creation, data modeling, and DAX calculations.
Experience with SSIS, SSRS, or other BI tools.
Knowledge of financial reporting and regulatory compliance requirements.
Familiarity with best practices in data visualization and user experience (UX) design.
Experience in the identification and subsequent definition of KPIs
Experience working within the mortgage loan and finance domain is highly preferred.
Salary : $70 - $90
