Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Sewing and Fabric Worker to join our team. The ideal candidate will specialize in the fabrication, assembly, and repair of aerospace components and panels using materials such as Nomex, Velcro, adhesives, and other industrial textiles in the process of manufacturing and repairs of helicopter interior panels common in the aerospace industry. This role requires precision, attention to detail, and the ability to interpret blueprints and engineering drawings to meet aerospace standards.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate industrial sewing machines and other equipment to sew and assemble components made of Nomex, Velcro, and related materials.
  • Cut, shape, and assemble materials according to engineering specifications and blueprints.
  • Apply adhesives and bonding agents for secure and durable assembly of fabric and composite components IAW manufacture and engineering specifications.
  • Identify and repair defects in fabric components or adhesive bonds.
  • Prep panels for material covering which can include removing old material coverings, cleaning and prepping bonding surfaces and perform minor fiberglass repairs on panels.
  • Manage and work with aerospace-grade textiles, including industrial fabrics and adhesives, safely and efficiently.
  • Adhere to all Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) protocols in handling tools and materials.
  • Comply with safety, 5S, and housekeeping policies and use personal protective equipment as required. Address unsafe conditions before putting people or property at risk.
  • Document all maintenance actions in accordance with applicable regulations and standards.
  • Maintain compliance with quality assurance and safety standards, including adherence to Naval Aviation Maintenance Program (NAMP) COMNAVAIRFORINST 4790 and local SOP and GOPS compliance guidelines.
  • Ensure all tools, and consumables are maintained per established policies.


Skills:

  • Proficient in reading, Interpreting and utilize technical manuals (TD / IDP), blueprints and engineering documentation.
  • Strong knowledge interior fabric applications and techniques specific interior panel repairs and fabrication.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to operate various hand and power tools safely and effectively
  • Self-starter and ability to work independently in a team environment.


Qualifications:

Required:

  • Minimum 3 years of fabric and sewing working using industrial machines.
  • Proficiency in aerospace maintenance procedures and processes.
  • Proficiency in using reading and interpreting blueprints and engineering drawings.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills for technical documentation and team collaboration.
  • Demonstrated ability to plan, organize, implement and obtain objectives with minimal direction.
  • Very meticulous and detailed oriented.
  • Ability to adapt and implement new procedures resulting in greater organizational productivity.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to lift, push, pull and manipulate 50lbs independently when needed.
  • Must be able to climb on ladders if needed.
  • Position involves long periods of standing, bending, kneeling, squatting.
  • Position my require use / exposure to adhesives, fiberglass resins, bonding agents, sealants, alcohol and other hazardous materials and chemicals used in interior panel repairs and manufacturing.
  • Ability to wear respirator when working with hazmat’s.
  • Respiratory Physicals and fit required.

Relocation: Relocation assistance is not a negotiable benefit for this position. Candidates must live in the immediate area or relocate at their own expense.

Shift: This position(s) is for 1st shift. Monday – Friday 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM.
