Job Summary
The Test Design Engineering Technician is a professional level position where the work is primarily focused on supporting and assisting ADTRAN Operations in a variety of work to include troubleshooting, debugging, assembling, testing, and modifying designs and systems.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Support manufacturing operations with equipment repair and test issues.
- Fabricate and troubleshoot test equipment.
- Debug and investigate test equipment failures.
- Analyze failures for trends.
- Perform Preventive Maintenance and calibration activities.
- Provide support in wiring and installation of new products and their associated applications going forward as products are released.
- Assemble various types of test beds, test racks, and test sets for use by design engineering group. May perform hardware design verification tests.
- Perform tests to verify performance, procedures, and functional operation of electronics boards and/or proto-type boards and systems.
- Update and maintain manufacturing work instructions, update and maintain manufacturing Bills of Material (BOM), verify Mechanical drawings, and draft, write, and submit Engineering Change Orders (ECO) for Engineers.
- Build-up mechanical assemblies for prototype development, compliance and beta units, submit prototype orders, order engineering supplies – new ICs, prototype housings, lab supplies, etc., submit New Part Qualification Requests, and/or submit Part Change Requests – from EOL or for adding suppliers.
- Perform general solder and wire modifications.
- Other projects and assignments may result and be assigned to accommodate the changing needs of the department and the Company.
Qualifications
Basic Qualifications
- Associate’s Degree in Electronics is required
- Equivalent experience will be considered in lieu of a degree
- 0-2 years of relevant, professional experience is required
- Intermediate Microsoft Office skills required.
- Must have completed (or be able to complete) ADTRAN Level 2 Solder Certification.
- Ability to perform measurements using basic laboratory equipment such as voltage/current meters, oscilloscopes, etc. required.
- Experience in verifying and debugging electronic, system, software, and hardware required.
- No travel is expected for this position.
Essential Physical and Mental Qualifications
- The employee must walk and stand for extended periods of time, lift up to 45 pounds without assistance on a repetitive basis and lift materials greater than 45 pounds with assistance.
- Fixture lift/hoist/pallet jack should be used to lift materials regardless of weight.
- Manual dexterity with hands and fingers is necessary to move material and to operate equipment.
- Must be able to extend or reach with hands and arms while performing routine job functions.
- The job will require occasional stooping, kneeling, and crouching.
