Who We Are:
Advanced Anesthesia Services specializes in providing anesthesia services to a wide variety of medical clinics in the northwest. We currently work with 13 different ambulatory surgery centers in the greater Seattle area. Our 23 CRNAs perform approximately 14,000 anesthesia cases a year, supported by an office administrative and billing staff of six people.
Who We Need:
We are seeking an experienced Medical Billing and Credentialing Specialist who thrives in a fast-paced environment, can multitask effectively, and maintains exceptional organization and attention to detail. While experience working in anesthesia is a plus, it is not required.
The Medical Billing and Credentialing Specialist will work closely with the Revenue Cycle and Administrative teams to ensure timely billing, accurate claims submissions, and seamless provider credentialing. This role requires a strong understanding of medical billing processes, insurance carrier policies, and credentialing workflows to support the organization’s financial and operational success.

Work Arrangement:
This is primarily a remote position with the ability to attend occasional in-office training sessions and team meetings in Snoqualmie. The position offers flexibility in hours, with options for either 30 or 40 hours per week and flexibility regarding time of day worked.
Responsibilities:
Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Medical Billing
- Perform patient registration workflows: entering demographics, checking eligibility, identifying and entering primary and secondary insurance cases accurately
- Code cases, post charges, and bill out claims accurately and timely.
- Answer patient phone calls 8-4pm: providing cost estimates to patients for upcoming procedures and address patient inquiries.
- Assist in ensuring timely resolution of denials and follow-ups on aged AR.
- Assist in obtaining prior-authorizations as needed
- Assist in posting insurance and payment posting as needed
Credentialing
- Perform tasks related to staff credentialing, reappointment, and privileging with external facilities and payers.
- Maintain written and verbal correspondence, tracking records, and data regarding provider status and the credentialing process.
- Set up new insurance portals or website access and user accounts for billing staff.
- Ensure compliance with all credentialing requirements and maintain up-to-date records with insurance carriers and facilities.
Team Collaboration
- Assist in developing and implementing workflow processes for data pulls, authorizations, and EHR integration to streamline billing operations.
- Provide cross-coverage for various team tasks, including claims posting, payment posting, and patient registration.
- Serve as a backup for cash posting.
- Other duties as assigned.
Required Education and Experience:
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- 2-3 years of experience in medical billing and credentialing or revenue cycle management.
- Experience working with all major insurance carriers and their portals.
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, CPT/ICD-10 codes, and insurance reimbursement processes.
- Ability to read and interpret explanations of benefits (EOBs).
- Solid experience with electronic medical record (EMR) systems and strong computer proficiency.
- Strong analytical, research, and problem-solving skills with the ability to prioritize workflow and produce accurate results.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience filing insurance appeals and resolving credentialing issues.
- Familiarity with anesthesia billing workflows is a plus.
- Background in creating new workflow processes to improve efficiency.
