Program Aide - Head Start – Markesan

ADVOCAP’s Head Start program is accepting applications for a Program Aide at our Markesan location. Head Start prepares children ages 3-5 with quality early childhood education in Fond du Lac and Green Lake counties. We help families reach financial, career, and educational goals, while building resilience and confidence for the entire family. This position will need to have a welcoming and friendly personality to ensure comfortability in working with kids and families that align with our core mission and values for all employees. This position is an essential part of a team responsible for working in the classroom as well as assisting in the kitchen and bus monitoring as needed. You will help create and sustain an educational environment by helping manage child behaviors and learning while supporting the Teacher and Teacher Assistant. This entry-level position is the perfect starting point if you are looking to get started in Early Childhood education.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Assist in monitoring child health and safety
  • In consultation with the supervisor and teacher implement behavior management strategies to ensure compliance
  • Ensure compliance with all bus monitoring expectations
  • Act as bus monitor on assigned routes
  • Ensure compliance requirements for meal/snack service
  • Engage with assigned children and families
  • Be available to work early morning and later evening hours and occasional Fridays and weekends
  • Ensure your availability to work early morning and later evening hours as well as occasional Fridays and weekends.

Job Requirements:

  • An Early Childhood course is required to be completed within 6 months of hire; or related equivalent at the time of hire
  • Special needs experience preferred
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule of possibly varying duties at various locations in the Fond du Lac area
  • Have reliable transportation
  • CPR certified or willing to obtain
  • Physical/tb/drug screen and comprehensive background check required
  • Reliable attendance and a professional work ethic

Salary and Benefits:

This part-time position will work 28 hours per week, Monday—Thursday with occasional Fridays and weekends. Starting pay is $13.74 per hour. This position is for the program year, with summers off. Benefits include vacation, sick and holiday pay, and retirement/401k option.
