Major Responsibilities:
Clinical
- Clinical role including both in-patient and ambulatory clinic
- Evaluate and initiate work up for new inpatient consultations
- Rounds and review the plan when on daytime rotation with physician on call
- Support of all neuroendovascular cases (elective, emergent and add-ons)
- Support all stroke alerts in the emergency department and in-patient
- Formulating a plan for the patient and reviewing that plan with the rounding physician
- Serves as a clinical expert and resource for the education of peers and other health professionals
- Works collaboratively with the attending physician to maintain timely and appropriate communication with family members house staff other disciplines and ancillary services
- Promotes own professional growth and development in clinical role

Professional
- Advocates for patients, families, co-workers, the community, and the PA profession

- Conducts, assists and/or mentors others in research through participant selection, coordination of the protocol(s), data collection, and other associated activities. Acts as study staff on all identified stroke and cerebrovascular trials
- Provides education to patients, families, and significant others using established education materials
- Encourage involvement in professional organizations
- Maintain all professional licenses and certifications
Leadership
- Provides feedback to and consults with leadership in assessment, problem-solving, decision-making, and evaluating system issues and models of care
- Identifies and participates in quality-improvement initiatives within the practice setting and initiates change to translate clinical research findings into evidence-based interventions in the practice setting
- Participates in multidisciplinary teams to provide integrated delivery of patient care services
- Initiates and revises protocols or guidelines and facilitates organizational change to reflect evidence-based best practice relative to practice setting
- Works to influence policy-making bodies to improve patient care
- Participate as neurovascular liaison and representative for stroke committee and DNV and regulatory review meetings
Licensure:
- Physician Assistant
- Current Illinois Controlled Substance License within 6 months of hire
- Eligible for DEA registration; Possession of a current DEA Registration within six months of hire and may vary based on practice site
Education/Experience Required:
- Master's Degree or equivalent as a Physician Assistant effective January 1, 2018
- 1 year PA experience in the relevant setting preferred
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:
- Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills.
- Proficiency with an Electronic Medical Record
- Current Certification (NCCPA)
- Current BLS Certification • Current PALS/ACLS certification may vary based on practice site
