POSITION SUMMARY: The primary responsibility of the Clinical Nurse Coordinator - Immunizations is to administer vaccines for adult and pediatric patients, track and document shots in the electronic medical record, and perform the duties required to coordinate and monitor provision of medical services in a professional manner for each individual patient.
Education: Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing.
Experience: Three (3) years as an RN in community clinic, public health nursing, and/or hospital setting.
Skills and Abilities (which may be representative but not all inclusive of those commonly, associated with this position):
- Requires strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively individually as well as a team member with physicians and other staff.
- Ability to appropriately interact and educate patients, families, and staff.
- Experience with Electronic Medical Record (EMR) and Microsoft office applications such as Outlook, Word and PowerPoint.
- Experience administering immunizations to pediatric and adult populations
- Skills required for reagent handling, labeling, processing, preparations, transportation and storage necessary
- Must be knowledgeable of required regulations and comply with them.
- Ability to coordinate the activities of a busy provider practice.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality
Transportation Requirement: Must possess a valid driver's license and automobile with insurance coverage as required by the State of Missouri.
License(s)/Certificate(s): Licensed as RN in the State of Missouri.
Essential Functions:
- Administer immunization shots as dictated by state regulations
- Coordinate and monitor provisions of medical services.
- Assist providers, take and record vital signs, abnormal results, distribute sample medications and administer injections per provider's orders.
- Triage walk-in clients, call-in clients as appropriate for patient care and safety.
- Keep patients' records, complete appropriate forms and reports. Provide appropriate documentation. Adhere to patient confidentiality.
- Complies with all designated safety policy and procedures in the work area including the use of applicable personal protective equipment when necessary to prevent exposure to potentially infectious agents.
- Provide health education and counsel patients in provider instructions and treatment program. Coordinate nursing care plans with other team members.
- Assist with implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of Quality Improvement Programs.
- Observe sign and symptoms, document and report reactions of the immunizations to the appropriate provider.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Marginal Functions: Participate in evaluating and planning for existing and new services.
Supervises: Health Assistants, Medical Assistants, students and volunteers.
