Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and hardworking combination Deckhand & Handyman to join our team from mid-May through mid-September, catering to high-end clientele of sport-fishermen & wildlife photographers, since 1974. The ideal candidate will assist in the daily operations of our vessel, ensuring safety and efficiency while providing exceptional support to the Captain. This role is essential for maintaining the boats and lodge facilities.
A clean-cut, well-spoken person with some college is preferred. Travel, room & board, 3,000/month, tips & a season-end bonus (if job done well).
Responsibilities
- Assist in the safe operation of the vessel under the supervision of the captain.
- Perform routine maintenance on deck equipment.
- Handle lines during docking and undocking procedures, ensuring secure mooring of the vessel.
- Monitor weather conditions and assist in navigation tasks as directed by senior crew members.
- Conduct safety checks and maintain safety equipment, ensuring compliance with maritime regulations.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of all deck areas, including storage spaces.
Experience
- Previous experience as a Deckhand or in a similar maritime role is preferred but not required; training will be provided.
- Familiarity with basic maritime operations and safety protocols is advantageous.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team in a physically demanding environment.
- Strong communication skills and a willingness to learn from experienced crew members.
