Aftercare Nursing Services is seeking a full time Educator to join our healthcare team. This professional will assume responsibility for staff orientation, competency assessment, and professional development of the organization's Personal Care Aides and all LPNs on staff. Provides efficient and effective education services and resources which enables staff to meet patients' and customers' need of service excellence and evidence based practices. Plans, develops, and facilitates opportunities for staff to continuously refine advance their competencies in patient care, teach, teaching, critical thinking and judgement. Responsibilities and Duties
- Responsible for assisting HCSS with creative problem solving, providing recommendations to improve care, provide staff with assistance to be successful, and provide assistance with HCSS for the best practices for situations. Hands on approach with demonstration of skills and techniques appropriate for safe and quality care. The educator will also assist the PCA in providing comfort with experience to promote improved successes.
- Works closely with the Director of Nursing to develop educational plans for employees.
- Facilitates department compliance with Employee Health and Infection Control Programs.
- Facilitates educational requirements for Personal Care Aides and HCSS.
- Researches, develops, implements, promotes, delivers, facilitates, documents, and evaluates education programs using evidence-based approaches and frameworks that support the organization's goals, objectives and regulatory standards, and also meets the ongoing educational needs of staff.
- Function as and educational resource for Aftercare Nursing Services.
- Plans and implements department-specific orientation and inservice programs.
- Supports quality assessment and improvement initiatives and processes.
- Explains procedures and treatments to patient and family to gain cooperation and understanding.
- Ensures that all PCAs assigned to position comply with the written policies and procedures established by Aftercare Nursing Services.
- Periodic on-call responsibility
Qualifications and Skills
- Licensed as a Registered Nurse in the State of New York.
- 1 year Experience in Home Care.
- Ability to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate education programs.
- Must be able to demonstrate knowledge/skills in needs assessment, curriculum and materials.
