Job Overview
The Logistics Specialist is responsible for the planning and operational execution of efficient domestic and international shipments including route and transport mode selection, freight forwarder/carrier selection, and compliant customs clearance.
Responsibilities
- Develops logistics plans for efficient and cost-effective movement of goods via sea, road and/or air.
- Requests and analyzes logistics quotes to identify savings and/or best transport options.
- Creates or approves required documentation for domestic and international shipments
- Interacts with suppliers and freight forwarders/carriers to resolve delivery issues.
- Reviews and approves logistics-related invoices.
Skills/Requirements
- 3 years’ experience in a logistics-related role with knowledge of domestic and international freight
- Experience managing the movement of goods by road, ocean and air including an understanding of the relative costs and benefits of the different modes.
- Experience creating documentation necessary for importing and exporting commercial goods.
- Experience working with an ERP system such as Oracle, SAP or MS Dynamics
- Strong analytical and systems skills
