What are the responsibilities and job description for the Endo Tech - Fulltime position at Aiken Regional Medical Centers?
Aiken Regional Medical Centers, located in Aiken, South Carolina, is a 273-bed acute care facility providing quality healthcare to the residents of Aiken and surrounding communities. Aiken Regional Medical Centers has been ranked a top hospital in South Carolina by the Carolina Center for Medical Excellence for its treatment of heart attack, heart failure and pneumonia. Services provided at the hospital include emergency medical care, orthopedic surgeries, maternity, and behavioral health services.
Endo Tech is under the supervision of a registered nurse, provides patient care through assisting the physician with Endoscopy and other minor procedures. Provides the appropriate supplies and equipment during Endoscopy Lab procedures and assists the RN in the recovery/prep area, as needed. Performs a variety of non-nursing functions associated with operation and maintenance of an efficient Endoscopy Laboratory including cleaning and maintaining equipment.
Duties:
- Utilizes principles and techniques of Operating Room asepsis.
- Sets up for Endoscopic and other minor procedures in a proficient manner.
- Transports patients at specified time and to specified area, using proper equipment and procedures.
- Assists physician with procedures, properly collecting, labeling, and transporting specimens.
- Operates equipment safely and correctly. Assembles, checks, corrects and reports malfunctions.
- Has a working knowledge of the differences in techniques and treatment modalities performed on patients of varying ages.
- Obtains and records vital signs per routine and/or as ordered.
- Utilizes written and verbal communication to report significant patient information to RN and/or physician.
- Reinforces patient and family education and assists with preparing patient for discharge.
- Orders, stocks, and maintains standard level of supplies.
- Receives patients and schedules appointments for Endoscopy procedures.
- Decontaminates and processes instruments and equipment according to department policy.

Current BLS certification. GTS (GI Technical Specialist) certification preferred. Graduate of an Operating Room Technician course or equivalent on-the-job training preferred.
