Minimum Hiring Annual Salary:

$52,612.00

Maximum Hiring Annual Salary:

$55,243.00

To attain the maximum annual salary, employee must meet all minimum qualifications plus:

  • 5 (five) years of additional applicable work experience and/or degrees higher than minimum qualification degree. Degrees higher than the minimum qualification degree can be used in combination with additional work experience.
  • A combination of related education, on-the-job work experience, certifications and/or licenses that results in a candidate successfully meeting the minimum qualifications of the position, may be considered.

The stated salary amounts are not guaranteed in the event employment ends with Aims during any fiscal year.

Job Description:

The Adult Education and English Language Learner (ELL) Programs at Aims Community College are seeking a dedicated and innovative Bilingual Digital Literacy Specialist, fluent in English and Spanish, to join our team. This role is integral to enhancing the educational experience of our Aims Community College students, with an emphasis on those in our Adult Education and ELL programs. The successful candidate will collaborate with instructors and staff to develop, implement, and support technology-enhanced instructional strategies that foster an inclusive learning environment where technology enhances the education experience rather than serving as a barrier to effective learning. Internal & External Collaboration:

  • Collaborate with internal and external partners to support learning across all modalities, including online and remote learning.

  • Develop constructive working relationships with students, staff, and faculty.

  • Collaborate with the Learning Environments team to stay current with instructional technology and best practices utilized by faculty and the college.

  • Collaborate within the Adult Education and ELL Programs, as well as with other departments to support the development of related student resources.

  • Collaborate with LMS administrators to problem solve student access and related issues.

  • Develop and implement online and hybrid learning modules that cater to diverse learning needs.

Online Learning Resources Support:

  • Prepare and deliver monthly Student Technology Orientations for ELL and Adult Education students.

  • Collaborate and coordinate with the Online Learning Specialist in the Learning Commons to access the Online Learner Readiness Assessment as-needed.

  • Collaborate with instructors and staff to design and develop effective online learning training modules for students as needed regarding regularly utilized learning platforms within the department.

  • Create engaging, accessible, and pedagogically sound digital literacy workshops and courses to be delivered through the Digital Literacy Lab tailored for Adult Education and ELL students.

Technology Integration:

  • Identify, evaluate, and recommend instructional technologies that enhance learning outcomes for Adult Education and ELL programs.

  • Train and support instructors, with an emphasis on those in the Adult Education and ELL programs, in the use of educational technology tools, including Learning Management Systems (LMS), multimedia resources, and collaborative platforms.

  • Ensure that instructional technologies are accessible and user-friendly for all students, with a focus on Adult Education and ELL learners.

Student Support:

  • Support students across our various campus locations with in-person, online, and remote learning.

  • Establish and maintain a presence for student online learning support questions and consultation through phone, email, and virtual communication.

  • Develop resources and provide direct support to students in navigating and utilizing instructional technologies and their student accounts.

  • Work in consultation with instructors to identify students needing digital literacy support.

  • Provide classroom, online and remote student training on the LMS, as well as the online learning platforms utilized in conjunction with the ELL and Adult Education Programs.

  • Support interdepartmental collaborations between ELL and/or Adult Education Programs that utilize online learning platforms by providing necessary technology training for instructors and students.

  • Provide student referrals to appropriate departments regarding academic and related issues.

Educational Technology Best Practices:

  • Develop and maintain best practices in educational technology with faculty and staff.

  • Promote remote learning support services through student orientations and instructor professional development sessions to transform instructional spaces to enhance learning and student success.

  • Research and identify best practices for providing learning support services to in-person, online, and remote students for GED Preparation, College Boost, and ELL students.

  • Provide ongoing technical support and professional development for instructors and staff with currently utilized learning platforms, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and innovation in teaching practices.

  • Assess the effectiveness of instructional technologies and strategies through feedback, surveys, and data analysis.

  • Use evaluation results to refine and enhance instructional practices and technology integration.

Other Duties as Assigned

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Associate's Degree; plus, one (1) year of experience in instructional technology, digital literacy, or instructional design or an equivalent combination of education and/or work experience.

  • Bilingual in English and Spanish

  • Strong knowledge of instructional design principles and educational technologies.

  • Experienced facilitator of trainings and student orientations.

  • Proficiency with Learning Management Systems (e.g., Canvas, Blackboard, Moodle, D2L, etc).

  • Familiarity with multimedia creation tools and techniques (e.g., video editing software, graphic design tools).

  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to work effectively with a diverse range of stakeholders, including faculty, staff, and students.

  • Strong organizational and project management skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of French and Arabic languages.

  • One (1) year of experience in instructional technology, digital literacy, or instructional design in a higher education setting.
