Air Transport of the Carolinas is Hiring a Chief Inspector Near Florence, SC

Precision Air is hiring an experienced Chief Inspector to join its team in Florence, SC. This position will be responsible for the management of quality assurance programs and oversight of compliance with applicable Federal Aviation Regulations (FAR's) in support of all aircraft maintenance operations. Serves as the Chief Inspector for FAR Part 145 Repair Station. 

PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist, supervise and direct all personnel assigned to the inspection department.
  • Assure all inspections are properly performed on all completed work and the proper inspection records, reports, and forms used by the repair station are properly executed, prior to return to service of the item.
  • Maintain in current condition, a file of pertinent Federal Aviation Regulations, specifications, Type Certificate Data Sheets, Airworthiness Directives, and other technical service-related documentation.
  • Ensure all technical data related to items overhauled or repaired by the Repair Station are available and maintained in current condition. Data will include Repair Station’s process specifications for limited rating specialized services, manufacturer’s overhaul manuals, service bulletins, part specifications, pertinent Federal Aviation Regulations, specifications, Airworthiness Directives, related Federal Aviation Administration approved data, and other technical data used by the repair station.
  • Assure periodic checks/tests are made, and current records maintained for inspection tools and calibration test equipment used by the repair station or by mechanics that have their own precision test equipment.
  • Ensure no defective, unserviceable, or un-airworthy parts are installed on any component or item released by the repair station.
  • Submit reports of defects, of un-airworthy conditions.
  • Assure proper use and execution of FAA form 337 and/or a maintenance release when required. This is to include Instructions for Continued Airworthiness (ICA), as applicable to all installations field approved on FAA Form 337.
  • Ensure all incoming materials, parts, supplies, components, equipment and tools used by the Repair Station are subject to a Receiving Inspection, to assure conformance with purchase order and/or other applicable specifications.
  • Conduct preliminary, hidden damage, in-progress, and final inspection of all items processed by the repair station and record results as outlined in the Repair Station Manual.
  • Provide for continuity of inspection responsibility, ensuring completion of required inspections when personnel shift or assignment changes occur.
  • Ensure that rejected or unserviceable parts/components are handled in such a way as to prevent their reuse as serviceable parts.
  • Oversee the proper tagging and identification of all parts and components as outlined in the Quality Control Manual.
  • Ensure all inspections are properly performed on all completed work before it is approved for return to service, and the proper inspection and maintenance records, reports, and forms required for such release are correctly executed.
  • Maintain current and complete files of work orders and inspection forms in such a manner, the file pertaining to a specific item repaired, can be readily located for review, subject to the record keeping requirements of FAR Part 145.61.
  • Issue training files on individuals covered in the Repair Station Manual.
  • Ensure compliance with all of the components of section 5, Training Program, in accordance with FAR 145.163.
  • Maintain a Line of Succession list to assure that an acting Chief Inspector performs the duties of the CI during periods of absence.
  • Perform Internal Audit Inspections of the repair station to ascertain its own abilities and procedural compliance to established policy and guidance. This planned and documented internal auditing program is to audit personnel, procedures, operations, equipment, material, processes performed, and records in all major functional areas. 
  • Maintain and keep current the repair station personnel roster, repair station manual, inspection stamp control, repair station operations specifications, non-destructive testing manual and signature authorization records.
  • Conduct training classes when needed.
  • Perform constant quality assurance inspections of work in progress.
  • Provide advice on the revisions to the Quality Assurance Program as needed to maintain a very high standard of quality assurance.
  • Approve Vendor Audits as needed.
  • Foster positive relationships with FAA personnel assigned to the repair station.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent is required. AS degree or higher preferred.
  • 5 years of experience in an inspector role supporting aircraft maintenance, repair and overhaul activities
  • Valid and current FAA A&P, IA certification
  • Experience with AS-9110 Standards/Certification
  • US Citizenship required
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license
  • Good communication skill, good English-language skill and good service skill are expected
  • Provides leadership and communication to subordinates and employees.
  • Displays and promotes a positive attitude and a team work environment.
  • Working knowledge of MS Office Software
