SUMMARY
The job purpose of the Shipping Associate role is to fulfill sales orders on the outbound freight. A key aspect of the role is maintaining the outbound orders within department budgets. The Shipping Associate’s role includes maintaining department standards to reach warehouse goals.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Includes the following:
Handle outgoing shipments by checking them defects and accuracy.
Organize packaging procedures to ensure safety of shipment.
Ensure that serial and batch numbers match the product.
Pull, pack and ship finished goods for customer orders.
Report and replace any defective item prior to packing.
Prepare picklist and packing list with correct documentation.
Verify accuracy of orders by matching them with quantities and types.
Ensure that items are properly packed and labeled.
Make sure that items are loaded onto shipment vehicle in a safe and timely manner.
Operate forklift to transport shipments from the storage area to the pallet.
Ensure that the warehouse is cleaned and maintained at all times.
Complete all necessary stock checks.
Maintain the warehouse and the allocation of space for stock.
Ensure the warehouse meets all safety rules as specified in employee handbook, OHSA regulations, memos, and MSDS literature.
Maintains accurate records for attendance and stock disposition.
Assist in other warehouses warehouse duties that are assigned.
Performs other related duties as assigned to support the organization.
QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Previous experience in operating a forklift preferred.
COMPUTER SKILLS
Data entry to look up inventory information and type shipping information for products being shipped to various customers.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and comprehend written instructions, safety material, and manuals used on the job.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to complete basic mathematics functions.
Needs to be able to count accurately.
REASONING ABILITIES
Ability to identify and describe problems.
Ability to interpret and apply safety instructions provided orally or in writing to the job assigned.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit; use hands and fingers to manipulate objects, handle, or feel; and talk and hear. Required to walk more than 20 feet or lift objects that weigh more than 25 pounds.
The employee is required to stand for 5-7 hours a day while filling orders, sit up to an hour to drive a forklift, push or pull objects up to 30 pounds frequently, lift up to 30 pounds frequently, and have the motor skills to operate various forklifts or equipment used to distribute materials throughout the warehouse. Bend at the waist or reach above shoulder level when manually loading and unloading parts as needed. Vision requirements include: close vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
WORK ENVIRONMENT

will be exposed to pieces of sheet metal, which may have sharp edges and moving mechanical machinery on a daily basis.
The noise level in the warehouse is moderate too loud.
The work environment is climate controlled.
