A Snow Plow Driver at AJT Supplies is responsible for safely operating snow removal equipment to clear roads, parking lots, driveways, and other designated areas during winter weather conditions. This role ensures the timely removal of snow and ice to maintain safe and accessible routes for vehicles and pedestrians. The Snow Plow Driver will work in adverse weather conditions, requiring a strong commitment to safety and efficient operation of snow plowing equipment.

Key Responsibilities:

Weather Monitoring and Readiness:

  • Actively monitor weather reports and forecasts to anticipate snow events and be prepared for immediate response when snow or ice accumulation is expected.
  • Be reliable and ready to respond at any time during a winter event, including overnight or early morning shifts, based on weather conditions.
  • Adjust snow removal strategies based on real-time weather changes and road conditions.

Snow Removal:

  • Operate snow plows and other snow removal equipment (e.g., salt spreaders, snow blowers) to clear snow and ice from streets, parking lots, sidewalks, and other designated areas.
  • Maintain roads, driveways, and paths to ensure they are clear and safe for vehicles and pedestrians.
  • Perform continuous plowing operations during snowstorms to keep streets passable and prevent hazardous buildup.

Equipment Maintenance:

  • Inspect snow plowing equipment daily before use to ensure proper functioning.
  • Report any mechanical issues, malfunctions, or maintenance needs to the supervisor.
  • Perform minor maintenance tasks, such as refueling, checking fluid levels, and maintaining equipment cleanliness.

Safety Compliance:

  • Follow all traffic and safety regulations while operating snow removal equipment, ensuring safe conditions for both drivers and pedestrians.
  • Maintain a safe working environment by performing pre-trip safety checks on equipment and wearing appropriate protective gear.
  • Monitor weather and road conditions regularly and adjust snow removal strategies as needed.

Route Management and Scheduling:

  • Follow designated plowing routes and schedules to ensure snow removal is completed on time.
  • Prioritize areas based on the severity of snow accumulation and traffic volume.
  • Communicate with supervisors or dispatchers to adjust routes or report completed tasks.

Customer Interaction (if applicable):

  • Communicate with customers (e.g., businesses, municipalities) to provide status updates or address any specific snow removal requests.
  • Ensure that cleared areas meet the customer’s expectations and specifications.

Record Keeping:

  • Correctly log hours worked, weather conditions, and areas cleared to maintain accurate records for billing and reporting purposes in our app.
  • Report any delays, obstacles, or issues encountered during snow removal operations.

Post-Storm Clean-up:

  • After snowstorms, assist in removing snow piles, applying sand or salt, and ensuring that all designated areas are cleared.
  • Assist with the removal of ice accumulation from roads and walkways, using appropriate de-icing chemicals or equipment.

Qualifications:

  • Valid Driver's License: A valid Driver's License
  • Experience: Previous experience operating snow removal equipment is preferred, but training may be provided for the right candidate.
  • Physical Requirements: Ability to work in challenging weather conditions, including extreme cold, snow, and ice. Physical stamina to operate machinery for extended hours and perform manual tasks.
  • Safety Awareness: Strong understanding of safety procedures for operating heavy machinery and driving in winter weather.
  • Skills: Basic mechanical knowledge for daily equipment checks and minor maintenance; good communication skills for working with supervisors and customers.
  • Availability: Must be available to work irregular hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays, especially during snowstorms.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with other winter weather equipment, such as salt spreaders or snow blowers.
  • Familiarity with GPS systems or route management software.
  • Ability to handle challenging driving conditions, such as icy or snow-packed roads.

Working Conditions:

  • Seasonal Role: Typically, this position is seasonal, lasting through the winter months. We are willing to provide year around full time work to right candidates.
  • Hours: Hours can vary, including early mornings, nights, weekends, and holidays, depending on weather conditions.
  • Physical Demands: The job may require long hours of driving, operating heavy equipment, and exposure to cold, snowy, and icy conditions.

Compensation:

  • Salary/Hourly Rate: Based on experience and qualifications.

Pay: $20.00 - $30.00 per hour
