DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
The ASCPL is hiring a full-time (37.5 hours per week) Administrative Assistant (Public Services) to work on-site at Main Library in downtown Akron to support our Mission Statement to provide resources for learning and leisure, information services, meeting spaces, and programs for all ages that support, improve, and enrich individual, family, and community life.
The Administrative Assistant (Public Services) interacts with a variety of people throughout the day to support the Public Services department and all Library locations by:
- Providing primary coverage at the administration reception desk.
- Performing a variety of administrative support duties, including preparing correspondence, reports, data entry, and recordkeeping.
- Creating and overseeing Sunday schedules; scheduling floaters and substitutes to meet systemwide needs.
- Greeting customers, vendors, job applicants, and other visitors and notifying administrators regarding the arrival of guests.
- Addressing customer feedback and forwarding to the appropriate administrator or agency.
- Assisting other agencies with special projects and tasks.
- Ordering and maintaining office supplies.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Working evenings and weekends as needed.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
Required: High school diploma or equivalent with some college coursework or an Associate’s degree. Knowledge of standard administrative office procedures. Skill in customer service. Skill in record maintenance. Skill in data entry. Ability to maintain confidential information. Knowledge of the principles of intellectual freedom as they apply to public libraries. Ability to use a computer and job-related software or systems applicable to the essential functions of the job. Ability to pass criminal background and education verification check screenings.
Preferred: Bachelor’s degree. 2 or more years of relevant experience.
