Summary:
This entry-level position is responsible for supporting office rearrangements and restoration projects. Duties include tasks such as demolition and repair, moving furniture and boxes, carpet cleaning, patching and painting walls, and repairing furniture and furniture systems. This role is ideal for individuals who are eager to gain hands-on experience and contribute to maintaining and improving office environments.

Education/Training Requirements:

  • Must be at least 16 years old.
  • Must have completed or be currently enrolled at the Grade 10/Sophomore level in high school.
  • Experience using tools and engaging in physical tasks, such as lifting and moving items.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team, whether through sports, extracurricular activities, or other collaborative experiences.
  • Familiarity with email and basic Microsoft Excel functionality.

Essential Duties:
1. Carries out proper procedures for cleaning and care of furniture.
2. Demonstrates skill by achieving an exceptionally high degree of cleanliness through the proper use of a variety of cleaning agents/materials, machines, etc. to clean walls, floors, carpets and work surfaces.
3. Demonstrates an understanding of safety protocols and procedures, models them consistently and assists other team members in following them.
4. Assists with furniture deconstruction, reassembly, reconfiguration of systems furniture, demo repair, hanging pictures, moving boxes and furniture using appropriate tools, instruction manuals. Requires the ability to safely lift and move items weighing up to 50 pounds repeatably as part of a team, utilizing clear communication to coordinate safe practices for everyone involved in moving large desks and file cabinets.
5. Follows verbal and written instructions to perform wall repairs, paint preparation, painting, and paint cleanup. Tasks may involve activities such as working at various heights, climbing ladders and using extended arm painting tools; and disposal of materials to the interior and exterior of the Center.
6. Operates and handle various hand tools and power equipment, including vacuums, carpet cleaning equipment, and other cleaning tools.
7. Sets up tables, chairs, and other requested equipment.
8. Fosters good relations with other staff, visitors, volunteers, community leaders, and other contractors, by promoting positive attitudes, goodwill, cooperation, and providing high standards of service.
9. Complies with all Alaska SeaLife Center policies, procedures, and programs.
10. Performs other related duties as assigned.

PAY RATE: $15.50-$17.00

Temporary positions, no overtime, up to 40 hours a week

Works a rotating shift schedule but generally 8:00am-5:00pm Saturdays, Sundays and 2:30-9:30pm Monday-Wednesday

Salary : $16 - $17
