Laundry Attendant

Description

The Laundry Attendant is responsible for ensuring that all linens, towels, and other items are properly laundered, folded, and put away in a timely manner. They must follow established laundry procedures and maintain cleanliness and organization of the laundry room.

Areas of Responsibility and Duties

• Collect, sort, and process all linens, towels, and other laundered items.
• Launder potentially contaminated laundry following approved cleaning procedures.
• Operate commercial laundry equipment, including washers and dryers.
• Ensure that all items are properly laundered, dried, and folded according to company standards.
• Inspect all items for stains, rips, or tears and remove them as needed.
• Report any damaged items or equipment to the supervisor.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the laundry room.
• Assist in keeping inventory of linens and supplies and notify the supervisor of any shortages or damages.
• Follow all safety and sanitation policies and procedures.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Qualifications

Education

• High school diploma or equivalent degree

Abilities

• Ability to operate commercial laundry equipment or able to be trained.
• Ability to stand for extended periods of time and lift up to 50lbs.
• Flexibility to work weekends and holidays as needed.

Experience

• 1 year laundry experience preferred or transferable skills.

Working Conditions

This position operates in a professional work environment. This position requires standing for long periods of time, repetitive motions, and lifting heavy items. The laundry room area may be hot, humid, or noisy dependent upon equipment. This department utilizes commercial washers, dryers, cleaning chemicals requiring following safety guidelines. This position will also handle potentially contaminated laundry and expected to follow approved cleaning procedures. All employees are required to pass a background check before being hired. Candidates may not have any tattoos visible above the shoulders. Smoking/Vaping are strictly prohibited within all company work areas, managed properties, owned properties, company vehicles, and within 10 feet of all entrances, exits, accessibility ramps, windows and air-intake vents.

Physical requirements

This job is primarily performed in the laundry room environment. Standing for long periods of time, repetitive motions, bending, stooping, or crouching and lifting heavy items up to 50lbs are consistent for this position. Normal workdays are between eight and ten hours and overtime may be needed to fulfill job duties.
