Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Commercial Electrical Estimator / Project Manager to bid and oversee electrical projects from inception to completion. The ideal candidate will possess strong project management skills, a good understanding of electrical systems, and the ability to work collaboratively with our crewmen, supply vendors, general contractors, and other stakeholders. This role requires the ability to bid electrical projects; interpret best material pricing; interpret and counter-execute job contracts; process lighting and equipment submittals; enter and maintain job information within Dropbox; manage and insure specific job safety requirements ie. Site Specific Safety Plans, MSDS where applicable, PPE, and maintaining OSHA certifications; coordinate personnel scheduling with lead foremen; track and manage general job materials and special order shipments; process additional work and change order billing; oversee and manage material costs; manage and track rental equipment; collect and process crewmen's time sheets; create end of project documents ie. redline drawings, warranty sheets, O&M's, and labels.
Duties
- Bid commercial (some residential) electrical projects - both new starts and renovations.
- Submit and process material and equipment data sheets to GC's and engineers for review.
- Process and counter-execute job contracts.
- Attend Pre-Con meetings when requested to align start times and approach with the GC.
- Manage the projects, ensuring they are completed within scope.
- Collaboratively interact with GC's, superintendents, and other professionals to ensure project specifications are met.
- Enter and maintain job information within Dropbox.
- Work in partnership with accounting to insure efficiency and smooth production.
- Maintain a daily journal of general contacts, job progress and pertinent activity.
- Oversee and authorize field personnel timesheets before handing off to accounting.
- Oversee inventory, material procurement and processing including deliveries and returns to ensure cost efficiency.
- Facilitate Site Safety Plans and manage safety requirements per project.
- Order and track rental equipment.
- Coordinate project schedules, resources, and information among team members and contractors.
- Read and interpret blueprints and specification documents to guide project execution.
- Conduct site visits to align and coordinate with our on-site foremen, address issues, ensure compliance with safety standards, and stay abreast of scope changes and change orders.
- Submit project documentation including reports, schedules, and change orders.
- Facilitate safety requirements related to specific jobs and personnel.
- Create close out documents such as redline drawings, warranty information, O&M's, and panel and equipment labels.
- Assist our foremen to close out projects thoroughly.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in electrical project management or a related field (3-5 years commercial electrical experience and 1-2 years project management experience, or a degree in a related field is required).
- Strong skills in project coordination and scheduling.
- Proficiency in blueprint reading and understanding of electrical systems.
- Familiarity with software tools such as Dropbox, ConstructConnect and Procore for document management.
- Excellent time management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
- Strong communication skills for collaboration with team members and stakeholders.
- Ability to stay professional when working with motivated customers including other GC project managers, job superintendents and other tradesmen, sometimes at a fast moving pace.
- A degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field is preferred but not mandatory.
