Job Summary: The Facilities Technician is responsible for the maintenance, repair, and operation of various building systems and equipment. This role requires a strong understanding of electrical systems, HVAC/R, and general facility maintenance. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ongoing maintenance tasks, repairs, and upkeep of equipment within the premises.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Address broken or leaking plumbing to prevent water damage and restore full use of water fixtures
- Work on damaged electrical wiring in case of shortages or severed wires
- Apply preventative measures to reduce the risk of future problems (e.g., sealant application on flat roofs)
- Fix potential safety hazards to prevent injuries
- Paint the building when old paint has faded or chipped
- Inspect and fix any malfunctioning equipment promptly
- Identify and address safety concerns promptly
- Schedule major repairs with the building’s occupants
- Coordinate with other team members and contractors for professional repairs
Qualifications:
- Proficiency in basic repair tasks (e.g., carpentry, plumbing, electrical work)
- Attention to detail and problem-solving abilities
- Strong communication skills for coordinating repairs and ability to work collaboratively within a team environment
- Ability to analyze complex problems and develop effective solutions
Education and Experience:
- Relevant certifications or training in facilities management or related fields are a plus
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Vocational training or certification in maintenance-related fields is preferred
