Position Summary:

Manage the production of the Transfer Yard that includes material receiving of both FE and NF (grading), Truck Loading, torching (as required through contractor), shearing (as required through contractor), appliance and wet car processing. Inventory control of all materials

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Achieves co-management of operational objectives by contributing information and analysis to strategic plans and reviews; preparing and completing action plans; implementing production, productivity, quality, customer-service, safety, security, and health standards; identifying and resolving problems; completing audits, identifying, developing and implementing system improvements.
  • Ensures that each member of the crew works in a safe and productive manner and follows all safety policies and procedures. Facilitate safety tool box talks.
  • Support a team that inspects and maintains quality levels of all our products produced received and repackaged through the yard
  • Inspection and repairs are required of all mobile equipment/Forklifts as well as that of the machines/car processing equipment throughout the yard. Daily walkthrough inspections will be required as well as immediate response to mechanical issues and downtime during production. Developing relationships with Vendor support will be essential.
  • Will be responsible to help yard, tools, and supplies organized as well as report low inventory of items for restock/reorder based on your budget approval.
  • Facilitate in the disciplinary write up process, recognizing and rewarding exemplarily employees for following safety guidelines and meeting company goals.
  • Approval of time and attendance for all employees
  • Be a backup to the office manager; execute transactions from the buying/scale through payment to customers. Weigh customers in and out.
  • Improves management job knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; benchmarking state-of-the are practices; participating in professional societies.
  • Participate in monthly reporting and reconciliations
  • Additional responsibilities and special projects; as needed

Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The items below are representative of the knowledge, skills, abilities, education, and experience required or preferred.

  • Associates Degree or Bachelor’s degree preferred, or a minimum of 3-5 years management.
  • Basic to Intermediate in Microsoft products. Understanding of scrap software; a plus
  • Demonstrate commitment to solving problems and creating continuous process or program improvements in a similar environment
  • Customer-service mindset and willingness to contribute to the team & internal/external customers
  • Experience within manufacturing/ operations organizations preferred
  • Organization skills are essential
  • Experience and interest in working in a fast paced, changing and collaborative environment
  • Must be a self-starter who can work with little supervision. They must be highly organized, detail oriented, and be able to multi-task in a face paced environment.
  • This position requires multi-level communications skills and must be a people orientated individual who can communicate professionally with both external and internal customers.
  • Must be a team player who is willing to help others as needed to assist the team in meeting their daily, weekly and monthly goals.
  • This position requires the ability to effectively establish and maintain cooperative working relationships within a diverse multicultural environment.
  • Must be highly motivated and able to work independently and in teams.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this position. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; sit; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl for periods longer than 2 hours while use of hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds throughout shift. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, and ability to adjust focus. May be required to travel to other buildings on the premises which consist of multiple levels containing ladders, steep inclines and stairs.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is exposed to outdoor sites requiring PPE, high trafficked environment consisting of pedestrians, moving heavy equipment, tractor trailers, and standard vehicles. The employee will be exposed to areas with high particulates. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. However, on some instances this job may require work in areas where ear protection is necessary.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $70,000.00 - $84,500.00 per year
