JOB TITLE: PER DIEM Sonographer
STATUS: Non-exempt
REPORTS TO: Ultrasound Supervisor, Clinical Services Manager
GENERAL SUMMARY OF DUTIES: Provide superior care to patients, perform obstetric and gynecological ultrasounds for provider review.
Principal Responsibilities:
- Utilize specialized ultrasonography knowledge, process and use discriminative judgment while giving direct or indirect care.
- Recognize the importance of teamwork.
- Awareness of HIPAA and compliance with emphasis on respect of the patients’ right to privacy, dignity and confidentiality.
- Adherence to office policies and protocols.
- Responsible for replenishment, maintenance and neatness of daily work area.
- Responsible for reporting any equipment issues and malfunctions to supervisor.
- Provide a safe, efficient and supportive patient atmosphere.
- Maintain regular attendance.
- Attend staff meetings and in-service programs and participate as appropriate.
- Participate in interesting case studies and reviews during department meetings.
- Responsible for adequate and complete reporting and charting for each exam performed.
- Maintain good working relationships and open communication with practice administration and physicians.
- Communicates with the physicians the patient’s results and ensures the implementation of care as directed by providers to achieve optimum outcome.
- Communicate with direct supervisor to maintain a good working relationship and open lines of communication.
- Maintain membership in local, state and national agencies.
- Maintain all necessary credentialing.
- Work closely with other departments in scheduling of add on/emergent ultrasounds.
- Attend all required meetings and/or review and sign for all required meeting minutes.
- Any other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
1. Graduation from accredited sonography program.
2. Possess valid credentials; includes possession of nuchal translucency (NT) credentials or completion of NT program within designated timeframe after hire.
3. Experience in an ambulatory setting preferred.
4. Necessary visual and auditory acuity required to monitor patient’s condition and operate department equipment.
5. Demonstrate a positive team attitude and possess interpersonal skills effectively and appropriately communicate with patients, their families, providers and coworkers.
6. Knowledge of Windows- based computer programs.
7. Maintain patient confidentiality.
8. Knowledge of HIPAA.
