Formulation Scientist

We are looking for an experienced Nutraceutical and Dietary Formulation Scientist onsite to join AHF, Inc, a fast-growing nutraceutical and dietary supplements developer and manufacturer. This person will help develop dietary supplements for our customers as well as our own brand. The Formulation Scientist is a key role in the organization and will contribute highly to the company’s ongoing success and growth.

The ideal candidate is sharp, a quick learner, and takes ownership of the products. Must has industry experience of various dosage forms development and extensive knowledge of nutritional ingredients. Must demonstrate the ability to communicate clearly and effectively and thrive in a highly dynamic and fast-paced environment. This position is highly collaborative and will partner cross functionally with sales, procurement, production, analytical and quality teams.

Responsibilities (and not limited to): but not limited to:

• Communicate technical perspectives and departmental capabilities to executive team providing data to support business opportunities and company growth.
• Oversee, evaluate, and implement Research & Development processes standardizing department systems. 
• Oversee and review department processes to identify improvements resulting in department efficiency.
• Oversee and evaluate departmental contribution to business activity, revenue, profit, and growth identifying potential improvements.
• Lead the research and develop of products across multiple categories including Dietary Supplements, Nutraceuticals, OTC medications, and Medical Foods.
• Perform and oversee the Research and development of the private label and branded categories of products.
• Provide technical review of customer product concepts to identify risks, formula functionality, and feasibility.
• Perform and review the formula design and development of customer’s products ensuring potency and safety.
• Ensure customer needs are effectively translated clearly into technical documentations such as master formulas and product specifications.
• Generate and review supplement facts panels of customer’s, private label, and branded products.
• Plan and conduct development activities from the product initiation stage to commercialization, and prepare technical and product development reports as required
• Provide requirements for the development and evaluation of materials, processing technology, equipment, and other needs required for the safe scale up of products
• Conduct market research and evaluations on existing and new ingredients to drive development of new product innovations.
• Evaluate the chemical, pharmacological, and clinical literature to design and develop functional and substantiated products.
• Drive translation and documentation of scientific insights and knowledge from literature and patent searches, highlighting key implications and benefits to support product effectiveness and company growth.
• Generate and review Batch Manufacturing Records ensuring commercial processing results in a compliant product.
• Correspond effectively with sales, procurement, production, analytical and quality teams to effectively execute projects internally and externally
• This position is onsite.

Qualifications / Experience

• Master’s degree in nutrition or Pharmaceutical Science
• 10- 20 years’ experience in formulation technology and development in dietary supplements, nutraceuticals, or medical foods
• Knowledge and experience with nutritional, supplement and pharmaceutical ingredients.
• Knowledge and experience with various dosage forms including capsules, tablets, powders, liquids, and soft-gel
• Experience with manufacturing equipment and lab techniques
• Experience with preparing technical reports/protocols and product development reports.
• Extensive knowledge of cGMP / cGLP guidelines
• Extensive knowledge of pharmaceutical science, formulation and technology
• Knowledge of analytical concepts and technology

Compliance with New York State Human Rights Pay Transparency Law, the annual base salary range for this position is $70k-$90k. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. AHF considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate’s work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as market and business considerations when extending an offer.
