Job Summary & Core Responsibilities
The overall responsibility of this position is to conduct engineering activities to support the AITX railcar fleet. This includes lease returns, car reassignments and repair of railcars in shops. Review and create appropriate repair projects for railcars per AAR, AWS, NACE and FRA recommended designs and regulations as well as the review of repairs for cars currently in shop. This position requires the ability to perform independent research into new applications or improved techniques for repair. Support of the AITX Customer Service and Sales departments is a key aspect for this role.

- Act as a team member in supporting operations/engineering projects and activities, this includes assisting with repair information, managing and reviewing documentation, approving billing repair cards, and other duties as assigned.
- Demonstrate increasing levels of ownership and responsibility for activities and projects as progression is made toward the final stages of co-op.
- Work closely with operations and engineering staff, as well as contractors/vendors (as needed), in planning and supporting engineering activities/projects, conducting repair assessments, data collection, gauging bids/estimates, etc.
- Perform systems and information upkeep, and manage administrative duties such as drawing/document handling and storage, and preparation of technical reports and summaries as dictated by stage of co-op.
