What are the responsibilities and job description for the Data Privacy Analyst - ONSITE position at American National Insurance?

The Data Privacy Analyst position secures the Company’s agent, policy holder, and employee PII from application developers, QA personnel, business users, and contractors who do not need to see these specific data fields in order to perform their job.

Essential Functions:
  • Conduct Data Privacy Audits: Data privacy consultants are responsible for conducting audits of an organization’s data privacy practices. They analyze the organization’s data privacy risks and vulnerabilities and identify areas that require improvement.
  • Develop Data Privacy Policies and Procedures: Data privacy consultants develop policies and procedures to protect the organization’s data. They ensure that the policies comply with all applicable laws and regulations and that they are communicated effectively to all employees.
  • Implement Data Privacy Solutions: Data privacy consultants implement solutions to ensure that the organization’s data is secure. They work with IT departments to ensure that the necessary security protocols are in place and that all data is stored in a secure manner.
  • Monitor Data Privacy Compliance: Data privacy consultants monitor compliance with data privacy policies and procedures. They conduct audits to ensure that the policies are being followed and that data is being stored and processed securely.
  • Data Privacy Training: Data privacy consultants conduct training sessions for employees on the importance of data privacy and how to maintain compliance with data privacy policies and procedures.
Additional Responsibilities:
  • Consult with relevant application development and infrastructure teams on database application performance, tuning, and debugging, assist with the design and implementation of procedures to ensure recoverability of company data resources.
  • Assist in the review and consultation of traditional database applications such as IMS, Db2, SQL Server, and other traditional and non-traditional database management systems.
  • Perform database maintenance and monitor performance to ensure responsiveness meets business expectations, create, and maintain relevant documentation as it relates to the database environments.
  • Participate in rotating on-call after-hours support.
Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, data science, or related field.
  • Must be proficient in the ability to understand and locate PII data.
  • Willing to learn and deal at times with systems spanning from internet based to on prem to large complex multi teared systems.
  • Ability to demonstrate hands on capabilities with databases such as SQL, DB2, and Oracle.
  • A minimum of three years of experience in relational database administration or related application development programming with two of those years being directly related to the development of a database application.
  • Competency in basic database administration tasks including the creation and alteration of database structures, utility processing, database security, backup/recovery, and database performance tuning.
Our Preferences:
  • Database administration certification(s).
  • Experience with IBM’s Optim Infosphere, Db2 for z/OS and Db2 for LUW, and Microsoft’s SQL Server products.
Candidates with less experience and/or education may be considered for a different level commensurate with their qualifications.
