PayrollOrg (PAYO) is the nation's leader in payroll education, publications, and training. This non-profit association conducts more than 300 payroll training conferences and seminars across the country each year in addition to producing a variety of publications geared to the payroll professional.

We are currently in search of an Editorial Assistant. This position provides support and publications schedule management on behalf of PayrollOrg (PAYO) and its affiliated companies. The successful candidate serves as a liaison between the Membership Publications Department and contributing writers / photographers and performs administrative, editorial, and content development duties. The Editorial Assistant operates in a deadline and calendar-driven environment.

Essential Functions

  • Provides assistance in all stages of the department’s publications process not limited to planning, managing, formatting, proofreading, and scheduling.
  • Serves as the liaison between the company and contributing writers to bring articles to final.
  • Stores, indexes, creates, and maintains files in accordance with department guidelines.
  • Creates and manages department surveys procedures in accordance with department guidelines.
  • Performs general clerical duties not limited to mailing, filing, scanning, faxing, mail retrieval and distribution, and department office supply ordering.
  • Writes articles and content for publications, electronic media, and social media.
  • Monitors project progress by tracking activity against timeline and goal dates; provides status updates to key stakeholders.
  • Conducts request for proposal (RFP) bidding process and completes full vetting process.
  • Tracks, analyzes, and prepares ad hoc reports.

Qualifications : To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and / or ability required :

  • Basic knowledge of Adobe Photoshop.
  • Knowledge of social media platforms including online community engagement.
  • Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Adobe Acrobat, MS Word, MS Excel, MS Outlook.
  • Mastery of English language including proper grammar and spelling, as well as AP Style.
  • Ability to travel to headquarters to carry out onsite duties as required.

  • Bachelor’s degree in English, Communications, or Journalism (education may be replaced with related industry experience).
